Hi all just reading a little about the earthing of dream boxes and was wondering if any one has a diagram of what to do or how to do it.
Cheers

Just hook up the ground from a power point to somewhere metal and secure on the box.
I use a 3 core power cable which then splits off to the normal dreambox plug + a ground wire, this way i just use the one power point. I have a 7020.

I have a cable splitter under the house with one of the output cables running to a bolt which I have in the ground
This is how I did mine. The other end of the earth wire is running to a mains plug earth and plugged into the power point. This made it easy to move from place to place.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Thanks everyone that replied they all will be very when i need them.
Cheers and thanks for the quick replies.

It was a serious question, really. I read all the time about these earth kits, and removing your LNB etc .. so what would be a serious answer.
Apart from Singapore, HK and Malaysia there are few countries around here that have an earth supply as well unless like in the office here you made a special effort to install it on the main distro board.
Drive your own earth stake into the ground and run an earth from it to your electrical equipment or to your dish.

Ok good idea (I mentioned this above already), but not too practical when the water table is less the 1m under the ground across most of the city here, how much earth does it need?
Does the same earth need to go to all electrical circuits in the property?
Does the same earth need to go to all the mains outlets in the property, if so how is this done? Remembering there is no 3 pin plugs in this country.
Does the same earth need to go to the dish and LNB as well?
More questions later.
For earthing the dreambox and dish, a 1 metre stake would be fine. If your wanting to earth the entire premises however, then you should talk to an electrician.

So what just take a cable from the ground stake to the dreambox and another one to the dish?
What about the LNB?
How long can this earth cable be?
Can I use more than one cable or should they all be looped?
Will a cable of this length induce any form of electricity / EMF into it and cause more of a problem?
What sort of cable should it be? What gauge and type?
No point speaking to a electrician as they simply do not know here.
I would say 2.5 mm˛ as a minimum size and up to 4 mm˛ or even 6 mm˛ depending on the length of the runs. Im sure that a sparky on the forum will correct me if this is incorrect. You can run one line to multiple devices in a row, but do not loop them together creating an earth loop. Remember that when you join devices together such as amp to dreambox and tv etc, they will link the earth together through the cables. As long as there is a good bond on the stake and the device you should not notice any sort of EMI/EMF.

in Australia all GPO (general power outlets) are three pin power-neutral-earth
the cables are three core being called twin and earth meaning all three wires are in the same insulation and almost all appliances are earthed.
i have serious doubts why you would need a earth wire.
look at it logically, why doesnt the power pack come with one already? or if its such a big issue, why isnt one included with the box?
The reason for the earth is to prevent static discharge from destroying your box when you flash the units or plug other units in and connect them up. It also does add some safety to the design by adding, hopefully, a shorter and more attractive path to earth than a person in case of fault.
