Hi
I have just bought & install the DG-240S with my 85cm offset antenna. I am having difficulty configuring the Elevation & Declination Angle. I have key in my address into dishpointer.com and it had my Latitude -37.8074 degree & Longtitude 145.0675 degree. It also then has Elevation -33.4 degree, Azimuth (true) 292.4 degree, Azimuth (magn.) 280.6 degree & LNB Skew 46.9 degree
Then the manual for the DG-240S state setting the Declination Angle 35 degree.
Quest:-Do I follow that manuals Declination at 35 degree & how to Elevation minus 33.4 degree? The Elevation has scale from 25 to 75 only but not a minus figure?
Can any please help me to resolve the exact Elevation & Declination Angle. Thanks & much appreciated.

Thanks guys but sorry I'm still confused, mine is an offset. I have been to the website. Do I take the Polar Mount main axis angle 38.5 &PolarMount dish offset tilt 5.31 ??
I assume I lock the elevation angle 38.5 deg & Declination Angle 5.31?? 5.31 such a low number??

Obviously you did not properly read the above link by "sandery".
Here is the relevant excerpt from it. It's 40 minus the declination angle for your latitude. The mast bracket is set on the marked angle for your Latitude.
Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".......
The Manual fo the DG240 has a 35 deg declination angle is this example or its 40 deg? Is it 35 or 40 deg less the Polarisation Tilt (deg) 13.74 & Polar Mount dish offset tilt (deg) 5.31? This is where my confusion is.
Thanks. So its 35 deg less the Polarisation Tilt (deg) 13.74 or Polar Mount dish offset tilt (deg) 5.31? Which of this 2 is the declination Angle or its in the table in the DG240 manual? This is where my confusion is still.
Hi Again
With my Latitude -37.8074 degree & Longtitude 145.0675 degree. I have set the Elevation 38.5 degree & Declination angle 35 less 6.05=28.95 degree. Is this correct because I dont seem able to even lock into any channel whatsoever? Something is not right here? Appreciate all your help.
Thanks. Previously prior to installing the Powertech DG240, it was fixed at Optus D2 @ 152 degree East. Its able to lock onto all the channels on that dish.
I just visit sadoun.com/sat/installation/satellite-Heading-Calculation.htm
It states Motor latitude -37.8 degree, Declination Angle 6 degree, Dish elevation 29 degree, Azimuth (true) 0 degree & azimuth (mag) -11.8 degree
Does this mean the Elevation angle is 29 degree & Declination angle is 35 less 6 degree=29 degree also. Now I'm really confused.
The LNB is Ku 11300 I think & the receiver is Technosat TS2000. There are no issues with these hardware as it work when the dish was fixed.
Hi,
If your Latitude (Where you live) is -37.8 Degrees, then set that on your mast bracket. (One side has Latitude and the other has Elevation.)
Next, the motor to dish bracket, set at 35 minus the declination, 29 degrees.
You should have put a clamp on the mast, to support the whole unit and allow it to be swung in Azimuth, E to W. (May not be necessary if it sits on top of mast.)
Try that and see if you can get a lock.
How do I lock in minus 37.8 degree when the Elevation Angle scale only have a setting from 25 to 75. So the elevation is 35 minus 29=6 degree correct. Thanks Heaps for this help.
I also align the dish towards True North correct or do I point to 180 degree Intelsat Satellite?
Thanks
Sorry I got you now. The Elevation set at 37.8 degree & the declination angle is 35 less 6=29 degree. I shall try that tomorrow morning. Meanwhile just to confirm, the dish is to align (roof gutter mount) to True North correct?
Thanks heaps
Here is what I want you to do.
Forget all about D2. The Optus Satellites have some common TPs.
So to remove any confusion, I want you to set up on C1, on a unique TP.
12367 H / 27800 ( Austar ). That is not on D1 or D2.
Now on the Mechanical Azimuth scale on the motor, with the buttons on the motor, drive it to 8 degrees to the East.
Now, very slowly, swing the complete unit on the mast, without changing any of the settings.
If you've set up as per instructions, you should find a lock which you can fine tune on the mast elevation bracket. (It should be very close.)
Tighten up all your brackets, and go to your STB. Save that in C1 position.
Now, when you go to Zero, You should be spot on True North.
Then you can go to your other Satellites via the STB and save their Positions.
Catch you tomorrow.
Thanks I'll give that a try tomorrow morning & will update further. Much appreciated.

Hi Beer4Life
I have set(1) Elevation set to 37.8 degree(mast bracket) and Declination angle 35 less 6 = 29 degree (Dish Bracket).
(2) Then I position the DG240 to 8 degree east, swing slowly manually the dish westwards to find 156 Degree East Optus C1.
(3) With the receiver turn on, set at 12367 Vert Austar 27800 3/4, LNB Frequescy 11300 KU MHZ. Th LNB Freq setting has option for 9750,10600 & 10750. The LNB sticker had faded & cant remember what freq it was, use to be able to lock on Optus D2.
During this steps I also used a satellite signal-meter with db adjustment & audio signal if it detect a satellite. I manage to receive signal power at 63% on the receiver incl a high pitch on the db signal of the satellite Meter. Unfotunately the signal quality is constantly on zero %.
Using the Satellite signal Meter, I even adjusted the Elevation & Declination further and also moved the motor slightly 8 degree plus or minus 2 degree but to no avail. Have I forgotten something?
Rgds
G'Day,
If your LNB sticker is so old that it has faded, my guess would be that it is an 11300 Local Oscillator LNB.
You previously posted:
To confirm this, look in your Installation Menu for D2 and check what you have there for the LNB.The LNB is Ku 11300 I think & the receiver is Technosat TS2000. There are no issues with these hardware as it work when the dish was fixed.
It is imperative that this match your actual LNB, otherwise no signal.
If you've altered this since you had it on D2, then I suggest that you try it with 11300.
Please don't confuse the issue between C-Band and Ku band Installations.
You are setting up for Ku, so ignore what is said about C-Band.

Hi
Confirm it is KU Band 11300 frequency. But still no signal quality & no lock.
I am now suspecting perhaps my site latitude -37.8074 degree is not necesarily the Elevation?
I went to satplus.com.au which had a link to satsig.net/ssazehm.htm
This is what I was displayed Sat orbit 156 deg E, Site Latitude -37.8074 Deg N+ &site Longtitude 145.0675. It shows Dish Azimuth (Deg E relative to true N) 17.49 & (Deg E relative to magnetic N) 4.89, Dish elevation (deg) 44.7, Slant range (km) 37433.4, Polarisation tilt (deg) 13.74, Polar mount main axis angle (deg) 38.5 & Polar mount dish offset tilt (deg) 5.31
Does this data confirm an incorrect Elevation?
Hi again,
This is where you are getting confused. The info that I've highlighted in red is specifically for a C-Band Polar Mount Prime Focus Dish.
That is of no use to you for a Ku Band, Offset, H to H Dish.
This is the first time that you have given your Longitude (in green), but it is at variance to figures that you previously gave me.
The figures given now suggest South Western Victoria. Is that correct?
Tell me where you are via PM if needed. so that I can get the correct figures fo you to use.
Actually the figures you gave from <sadoun.com> would have put you in the Tasman Sea?
