HP Pocket Media Drive 160GB (Model # PD1600s)
USB powered 2.5" drive
Working great,47 games loaded with plenty of room to spare.
WD Passport 160GB USB powered 2.5" got it for $89 thought it was a bargain.
WD Elements 2.5" 320GB works all good, DSE $130. Even has a blue light to match the Wii..
Samsung FreeAgent Desk 500GB doesn't seem to be working. Spewing, now I have to go and buy another HDD.
I'm thinking about buying a WD Passport tomorrow - . Any comments on compatibility of these?

Im using a Lacie 120gb 2.5" drive that I had lying around, it has both USB and firewire interface, its working fine.
Cheers
Confirmed Maxtor OneTouch 4 320gig working. Centrecom has them for $119.
WD Passport 400gig working fine
Good to see we are now getting a good list together
Keep up the good work
Confirmed Maxtor OneTouch 4 250gig working
guys with the drives that work but games crash
try diabling powersave on the drives (known issues with some wd drives pretty sure it will affect seagate as well)
Verbatim 160GB USB Portable Hard Drive works perfectly.
Today I purchased a WD My Passport Essential 500GB from Harvey Norman. Was pretty exy at about $240.00ish, but I'm happy to say that it works perfectly. It's also very small physically and so easy to hide in the TV cabinet. Just another benefit of it - it's only got a single USB cable (and no external power supply), so only takes 1 USB port on the back of the Wii (unlike some other external HDD with out external power supplies which take up 2).

Maxtor one touch4 500g is working fine!!!!
"WD Passport" drives look like they are a clear winner at this stage.
Got one myself today and it ssssssssss
WD Elements work just as well, but with only one usb it might lag, will test it today
the scond usb is just for power
MOre information about powersave
if your games load but when you leave if for awhile and then come back they crash your drive has probably gone into powersave mode
to turn this off on seagate drives go to seagates website download the seagate manager software
install it and click on setting and change powersave to never
