    Default Possible to mount a dm7020 to a dm500.

    I have a DM7020 with a 400gb hard disk and a DM500.

It would be cool if it was possible to mount the DM7020's drive to the DM500 so I can watch recordings using the DM500.

Has anyone got a setup like this or can explain how to do it?

The DM7020 is running Iolite and the DM500 is running Gemini, however I am thinking I'll change the DM500 over to PLI as the streaming seems to work better.

    Very easy to do;

Use your Web interface open your DM500 in your web browser (firefox)
    i.e.

click on the box control drop down menu
    then click on configuration
    the click on mount manager
now click on grenn add button

Now complete the details like this example

Notes: Assuming the other boxes are also using PLi Iolite - 2008 edition

Your DM7020 will already be shared on a samba share on your LAN, sharing its HDD as the word hardisk
You must mount all new devices on the DM500 on /media/server1 or server2 and so on

    When it is set up like this example you will see;

    go enjoy

Jonc - your a real bloody fountain of knowledge with these things! What do you do in your spare time

I'm going to upgrade both boxes to Iolite 2008 and fill in your configs.

It might also fix up the problem I have on the DM7020 which is running Iolite 20071206 in regards to not updating the software menu.

Before I do the Dm7020, can you tell me where to save the timer file. Also I hoticed in Iolite there is an option to "rebuild the movie list". Does this feature rebulid the movie list according to the "recordings.epl" fille on the hdd?

    blue button backup
Update to the Iolite 2008 edition
    blue button restore

also look at this if you are doing a fresh nfi install or online upgrade (look at reply #2)

Sorry you will need a user id and password to read this on my web site (I know it is against the rules but I posted this thread on here before the crash and with the austech guys bringing everything back at some time in the future it seemed pointless to post it again)

When I tried to post the howto here I get this message from the system ADMIN
You have included 6 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.
    I give up

Works perfectly after changing both boxes to iolite 2008. Mounted the DM500 as per your config to a wireless DM7020 and recordings stream great.

    Big thanks for that

jonc - next question if you don't mind.

I've got a server running windows xp with movies, music etc. I can setup pli to stream and record to/from the server no probs on the dm500s.

But when I setup the dm7020 I seem to lose the choice of the local hard drive.

Basically I want the 7020 to record to its own hard drive but be able to stream from directories on the server.

Just setup a different directory on the dream and mount it to your movie server. i.e /mnt/cifs to the server.

Ah righto, I get the file structure now (took a while)! So in other words if I want to, I can add series of mounts for movies, music, pics, addons etc etc

    Cheers.

Sorry I have been away for a few days, the structure on the 7020 is slightly different to the 500.

1st remote cifs server is /media/server1
2nd remote cifs server is /media/server2
    etc etc

never mount on /media/hdd or of course you will loose your onboard hdd

Should be similar to what you see above, but sorry I do not use the Gemini images here, so can not do a screen dump how to for you. Maybe Z80 is the man to ask in his clone thread.
