Default What is the easiest way to make a DVD from a Dreambox file ?

I have a number of movies on the hardrive of my 7020 and am wondering what is the quickest/easist method to turn them in to a compliant DVD movie >

I presume they would need to be converted to mpg and then again to vob files to burn to DVD ?

I would be interested in hearing a few peoples opinions as I know from previous reauthoring of files that results can vary.

    Thanks in advance.

    Wintel boxes:
    1. Use WinAVI to transcode straight off the 7020 hard disk to a vob file on your PC and burn it with say Nero
    2. Use WinAVI to transcode straight off the 7020 hard disk to an AVI file and burn serveral .avi movies movies per DVD with Nero

    Linux:
    1. use transcode and burn with K3b or the likes

Many other ways, I simply stream them from a USB hdd on the 7020 which saves burning them

I use Dvdlab pro to convert stuff I want to keep to disk. I sometimes also use DVD Source Creator first to fix the aspect ratio.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

heres how us 500 users do it

1)run it though projectx to fix it
    2)use convertxtodvd (adding 4 movies)
3)use dvdlabpro to re-author/compile the four movies onto one dvd

By far the easiest way is to put the composite video output of the dream into a dvd recorder and just press play on one, and record on the other.

Put a blank DVD into the recorder first of course.

    That's the KISS method.

I dont own a DVD recorder and dont plan on buying one unfortunately.

Nerovision......is that part of the Nero burning software suite or a seperate program ? ?

I can FTP a movie to my laptop quickly enough , its just what to do from there to turn it in to a compliant DVD that can be viewed on a DVD player , preferably without a lot of re-encoding.

TStoMpeg2 is what a lot of my mates use Sanity.

if you have Dreambox tools v2 you can also just convert ts files from there, then burn with any burning proggie, Easiest I suppose is how Z has stated, but with out a DVD Recorder no go, But Nero would be my choice aswell... It can convert files straight from TS format, using nerovision as stated above, does take about 4 hrs to convert and burn to DVD and The quality also does lack a little.

I'll use Nero , its just for one movie for a friend that I have on my HDD and not something I plan to do reguarly. Just out of interest , what way of doing it would produce the best picture quality in case I ever need to do it for that reason ? ( not that Foxtel have good quality to start with )

I am sure I banned you a couple of months ago streeter75 for abusing me. I really hope you are behaving yourself while I am in a good mood.

the more passes the more time but the better quality.. Thats really the only option you need to worry about unless you want to fit more than one movie on a dvd then you can lower the kbits per second at loss of quality.. Oh What you can do is also increase the kbits so its takes the whole dvd up.. Can't remember how I think its an advance tab at the bottom

OMG....this topic got me interested today.

I have been handed a copy of the most sensational program to do what you want Sanity.

    It is called VideoredoTVsuite.

It does everything and something very, very special.

It actually detects the sync patterns for commercials in a video stream and automatically removes them for you.

Unfortunately it requires money or a crack/serial ...

A mate recorded a high def copy of the AFL grand final, then removed all the adds with the touch of a button and burned to two dvd's.

And he ain't no rocket scientist.

    Well worth a play.

Here is where to get it as a trial.
