Backwards Compatibility PS3?

Hi, have just been looking at ps3's and noticed that only the 60gb can play ps1/2 games.

My question is, is there a mod of any kind for a 40gb or 80gb that can allow the same thing, as the 60gbs are hard and $$ to come by.

The 40 GB, 80 GB (2008), and 160 GB models do not include any backwards compatibility with PlayStation 2 games.

This was due to the removal of "Graphics Synthesizer" GPU, which stripped the units of all PlayStation 2 based hardware.
