Good stuff. That should keep it going for a few more years.

How much did the board cost.

$95 shipping included to Canada (from New Zealand) off ebay (brand new). Arrived in 6 days so that's not too bad.

Only problem now is...... I'm afraid to have it on for too long lol. Before this happened the thought of it dying on me never crossed my mind. Oh well... its working now so I guess I should just enjoy it lol.

So mickstv.......keep hanging out here would ya???? I might need you again! lol

    Thanks again!

    Tyler

btw... this set was manufactured Oct. 2008.

Thats a good price for the board. I wouldn't be too worried about running the set they're mean't to be used and you might never have another fault with it.

Yep I'm usually on line always have the Lappy logged in whilst at work but if I'm not around someone else will be.

Austech has alot of good Tech's on line that are willing to help.

Tyler, Do you still have the info on that parts house? I have a 50PG20 UA manufactured in 2008 also. I found this post while searching and discovered my top buffer is bad. Unfortunately, I already purchased the y,z boards just to find out that wasn't the problem. I've been looking online and everyone is out of stock. My part number is EBR50039007. I did find a EBR50039001 and 5. Does anyone know if these are compatible? I'm just a semi handy person trying to save a few bucks. I'm guessing that the different last number is a updated or older version? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Thanks mickstv for great troubleshooting info!!!

    Default JohnS

Hi Everyone .... Another new [Older Really ] member requesting help with my failed [ no picture ] .... LG Plasma .. DT 42 PY 10X ..

Traced the problem to the Control board ....

Seems to be the Pads under the control board that have been discussed in this forum ... If I slightly flex the control board the problem comes and goes .

What is the purpose of these pads ? . Heatsinks maybe? .. And can I really dispense with them ? ....

One small IC at the top centre of the board has a pad under and a pad on top held by a clamp ...[ This seems to be the mechanically sensitive area ] .....

Can I chuck the pads and clean up with contact cleaner or should I replace the board [ Or the Pads ]?.... Appreciate any advice ....Thank you .

    Default Same problem

    Hiya, new guy here.

I am having a similar problem with my LG 50PG20. Last night the picture stopped working, sound works.

I took the back panel off and disconnected the boards connected to the YSUS. With the top board disconnected I get A rectangle box moving around on the top of the screen and nothing on the bottom. With the bottom board disconnected and top connected I get nothing on the screen at all.

Would this mean the top board is most likely suspect?

Top board is EBR50039007. They seem to run around $75.00

    Thanks

Yep replace the top board and it should be ok. Shop around you might get a better price for the buffer board.

Really having a hard time finding any of these boards in stock. Are any of them interchangable or do the EBR and EAX numbers have to be an exact match?

This is the best I could find

There were a few places selling them for $40 but they were all out of stock. Was not able to find any on ebay.

EDIT: Never mind. I just ordered that one. Been two days with no TV and the wife's going batty already lol.

Your going to have to use the correct part number. Maybe have a look for a local LG warranty agent in your area and see if they can supply the part for you. Use the LG website to find out. Or give LG a call and they will direct you to the closest centre then give them a ring.

Well I changed the board and it still has no picture. Unplug it and I get the static and box floating around on the top. Bad board or should I look at something else?

Did the board look like it was new without any marks around the screw holes etc ?

Yeah it looked brand new. Been doing some more searching and found that if the power button blinks twice then stays on it could mean a possible Va or Vs short.

Going to have to do somemore testing on the Y-sus board I think.

Yeah check that both rails are ok whilst the top buffer board is out.

I'm a bit suspect on the bottom buffer board.

Normally what happens is when you disconnect one buffer board the screen should show on the still connected. Now what you wrote in the first post is a little strange after reviewing it, you were saying that when you disconnected the top board you got a box moving in the top half of the screen strange. Maybe start from the beginning again and recheck the original fault please, then repost the findings.

I haven't had a chance to test any voltages as yet but I was looking an the replacement top board I ordered and noticed something interesting.

It looks like the solder is missing in the area I circled.

The original board and replacement boards have the same part number ?

Is that missing capacitor on the original board. If it is the new one you have got may well have been damaged.

Get in contact with the seller and ask for an exchange.

It is not missing on the original board, both boards have the same part number: EAX50051102.

I left the company I purchased it from a message earlier, waiting to hear back from them.

But with either board symptoms are the same. No picure sound works. With top board pulled off to the side but still wired to bottom board I get picture on top, nothing on the bottom.

It's really strange because I would have expecting if you disconnected the top board from the ysus you shouldn't have got a picture on the top half.

Maybe we are getting this mixed up. The only other option I can see is the bottom buffer board being the cause of it.

    Very strange

I don't get it either but with the top board connected and bottom disconnected there is no picture at all.

Edit: With the wire connecting the top and bottom board disconnected I don't get any picture no matter what board is connected.
