    Default Newbie question

Hi all, ive been watching and reading all the posts on here for a while and finally decided to sign up.
one question i have is, i already have stuff on order (dish, lnb, ect.) for FTA for the father in law to get some channels from his home country. but was wondering about all this gamma/whitey card stuff. if my freind was to lose his 'f@xtel' card and got issued a new one, would the old one still work? im guessing it will as long as he stays registered right?

just got me wondering after reading all the posts about these gamma/white cards.

You lose the old foxtel card and they will kill it very quick after losing it, like straight away when you report it missing, then friend would be mighty upset because he would have to wait for another card to arrive, then it would have to be activated.
For whitey/gamma you need to see the bald man at the pub but be careful of the rip offs as you cannot complain if the card doesn't work or dies. You also need to know a little about sat related stuff I feel.

You could pay $800 for something that might last 3 weeks. Thats the chance you take if you buy something illegal off someone you dont know.

Back to your original post , what FTA services are you trying to get and with what equipment ?

dutch channels will be ok, the 2 countries are so close and language is similiar. is there a kit anyone would recommend then? i havent ordered yet, just watching it on ebay. i could make a kit, i have seen the strong 4658 and from what i have read is a very good SRT, this along with a IR1 and 2 cam, dish and LNB would be a good starting pack dont you think?

dish and LNB would be good. and a mount, the right connectors, RG6 quad, are all part pf the formula too. BVN on Optus D2. the Strong SRT 4658x is a neat unit. i would recommend it to anyone.

the SRT 4658x will do everything. at the same time, or at once. or none at all.

Shame you don't get a C band dish (2.4-3.0m diam $200 - 300), using one of these fine works of art will allow reception of DW-TV:-
