Default ADSL Speeds - Anything i can do to increase

    Hi All

Moved house a while back and finally got the internet hooked up.

Now in the old premises i had an ADSL 2 connection with Amnet and speed tests were 8.02Mb/s down and around .80Mb/s up.

In the new place im on ADSL 2 + with the same provider and am down to only 3.50Mb/s down and .35Mb/s up.

My only change hardware side of things is a new modem which is very similar to the one i had.

    My questions are:

Is this normal, im pretty sure distance to the exchange is the factor here.

Anything i can do to increase this - OTHER than move house.

A lot can also depend on the cabling in the house, number of devices on the line and the type of filtering used. eg: line filters or ADSL central filter/splitter (the latter being superior).
