how to replace the surgical rubber

This is my old faithful Marksman fold-up with new "hard-pull" rubbers from the 'states. Good for demonstrations like putting a 8mm ball-bearing through one side of a galvanised rubbish bin. But my accuracy is crap on the big 'power' shots.




This is my home made copy that's very light and (for me) accurate.




I've noticed that the locally available Marksman 'non-braced' slingshot is exactly the same grip as the U.S. braced models. All you would need to do is drill out the epoxy plugs and bend up a wrist brace similar to the one in my picture.

You put the rubbers on with alcohol and let them stand for 24hrs.

Just wondering if you could tell me the diameter of the steel wire, used in the frame ?
(It looks about the same as the Marksmen wire frame)

The wire is 5mm stainless, a bit hard to bend, but very strong and light. The handle is 15mm SS pipe and the wrist cushion is 6mm rubber fuel line. The rubber is a Truemark 'standard pull' from the USA. I'm going to fill the handle with Sikaflex rubber one day to make it all a bit more solid.

You probably did.
Here is another online Australian store (as well as Camping-r-us), that sells the whole slingshots and rubbers.


But they also have physical real stores, in queensland (seems to be the most legal there)

just a mechanical question, shouldn't the arm brace go over the wrist, not under as this thing looks, or am i missing the fact it has a velco strap over the arm????

because the one in the photo, if you hold the grip and pull the force will pull the brace AWAY from the forearm, the awsome i've SEEN has a brace coming out from the grip at the top and goes down the arm ON TOP, so as you pull harder the force of the "Y" being pulled back is dissapated through the brace onto the top of the arm..

with this arrangement i've HEARD of sinkers going through a 4x2 with EASE!

The elastic is a Truemark 'standard pull' from the USA. I'm traveling to ample the handle with Sikaflex elastic one day to accomplish it all a bit added solid.

I use to built them as a kid, 6 to 8mm SS rod, a blow torch to soften the metal and a vice to hold it while working.

Sometimes id weld a brace across the handle to hold the 2 arms steady, then spray it matt black for that cammo look.

Not hard to do and bloody powerful too.
