If your doing this for torrents using a proxy won't help nor do the majority of the downloadable hide my IP programs. You ISP gives you a specific IP address and that detail and your client ID is logged vs. time and date.

Have a look at this perhaps or use an anonymous proxy as suggested earlier for web browsing.

There is no real mean to hide your IP: it always will be found! Using any "Hide IP" software you only can make more difficult the detection process. IMO much more meaningfull is to encrypt data sent via Internet - both directions.

    THINK ABOUT:

It's generally possible to send a request (ie. force browser to open website xyz) with a faked sender IP-address. But what will happen with the answer (ie. browser shows the website)? You surely guessed it: it never will reach you, because it will be sent to a faked (means invalid) IP-address. You sit swearing in front of your PC ...

Hence, how it in reality works using a proxy or whatever router in order to to hide your real IP-address:

    Your PC: 192.168.1.4
    Inside router: 192.168.1.1
    Extern IP: 8.8.8.8
    Destination IP: 8.8.4.4

    You send from: 192.168.1.4
Extern router translates: 8.8.8.8 to 8.8.4.4 and remembers your real IP-address (192.168.1.4)

Destination IP sends back: 8.8.4.4 to 8.8.8.8 (extern IP)
Extern router translates 8.8.8.8 (with your real IP remembered) to 192.168.1.4 (your PC)

Hiding an IP in reality does NOT work - don't trust on related promises !!!

Actually it can. Proxies such as the popular squid have a configurable option to not pass on the requesting IP address / hostname. If you push your web traffic through one, the target server will have no idea where the request came from originally, only that the IP address is the proxy is making a request.

"AHA!", I hear someone cry, "What if I run a script that gathers the IP address locally and passes that to me embedded in say a post or URL string?".

    NoScript. Kills that dead.

Can't find a squid proxy to cloak yourself with? OK, you're a lazy bastard and don't want to do a simple google search that would reveal the tor project or the like. you can still hide your ISP IP address by setting up a simple proxy via a shell account.

BTW, appologies for drawing this forum to the attention of PRISM with this super secret stuff that terrorists world wide will now use.

    Lol. Maybe Phill.
The best I'm seeing ATM is at USD$3.33 / Month.
They do not keep logs either.

Setup is ADSL > Router with tomato firmware (good router - don't be cheap -Dual band Wifi 300n )

I use an Aus RT-N16. It might be time to a new fella with better specks though. I think I might do Asus again

the web config to make it work looks sort of like....

Hey Phill, here's another unblocker (hide ip provider) I found.

I take no credit....just passing it along....

Currently Beta, but free during beta (For Hulu/Netflixs/BBC etc... or privacy even....)

Either use a proxy, which will protect you from stuff but people can see the you are using a proxy. Or use a van which is more secure but can be more expensive.

If you wanna really be secretive you should buy a few spare IP addresses.

You can hide your IP address by using proxy server.

Kind of off topic but I can think of a number of reason to hide your IP. If you work for Al-Qadir it would be a priority alternately perhaps you’re interested downloading a few media files like TV shows or stuff to make your computer sweet and worried using Torrents might get you in hot water. If that’s the case I suggest you do a little R&D on newsgroups and a paid subscription to a NNTP server using an SSL connection. The SSL won’t help you (I hope) if you’re in the first group of users thankfully but if you’re just doing the latter 256 byte crypto just leaves an IP log between your endpoint and some NNTP server but no context.
