Im suprised you say exetel is more generous than TPG?
I always through TPG were the best in this area, might have to do a bit of shopping around myself then.
Ive been with TPG for what seems like forever and finally decided to churn to Exetel for their more generous download limits. (im on ADSL1)
I have been on Exetel's website and ask to be churned on the 18th of this month.
Do i have to email TPG and tell them also or thru some link on the website etc?

Urban,
In my Area i can only get ADSL1
Tpg always had the best d/l limits for the last few years but now there are better:
Tpg plan $49.95 1500k/256k 25GB1 (10GB peak+15GB offpeak)
Exetel plan $50.00 1500k/256k 72GB1 (12GB peak+60GB offpeak)
Exetels off peak period is more user freindly (but not their the cust service i hear!)
peak 12pm-12am
off peak 12am-12pm
BTW: are u sure i dont have to email TPG about the churn?? i just spoke to one of their filipino Cust serv people and they said to email them after the churn to confirm the cancellation and also they say they require 30day notice which would mean if i churn next week i will pay them for another billing period!!!
Is that right u think or are they confusing cancellation with churning?
If the customer service person is saying to inform them i would, which gets you out of any liabilities. My understanding of churning however was that it is all done automatically through the providers, same goes for when you port a number from one carrier to another. Once your port on the exchange is assigned to another ISP the first ISP terminates your contract.
If they are asking for a email send them a quick email it will only take a few minutes and it will get you out of any future obligations.
Hope everything works out smoothly for you, ive heard some horror stories about churning lol.
I just read over at whirlpool that i do need to notify them via email after the churn and that i am still required to give 30days notice which effectively means i have to pay them another month $50
Edit: If anyone likes the prices i put above and want to signup with them, i can give u my temp email address with them to use as a referral as i think i get $25 each one, (great way for me to re coup my $50) hehe ... cheers.
When I churned from Westnet to TPG, I had to give 30 days notice as well.
What I did is marry up things...i.e Find out your date of TPG charging each month, and request they turn off of TPG on that date. Get the new ISP to have the service ready to go on the same date.
This went smooth as from my churn....
Good luck with it all.
yep i too was stung by tpgs 30 day notice to quit or churn, had to pay for a month i didnt use it................must read the fine....its there.

Just a question mate, TPG does not count your upload at all as part of your download, what about exetel?
