Just after my last email, it was fixed.
    Thank you very much.
Happens a few times a week, only on that channel, thought it was me but tried another box and the same thing.

Oh what a joy, i simply can't wait to have my credit card, home address and smart card linked to a forum.

    What a pleasant thought.

Get a grip Mr Selectv.....you're dreaming if you think that's a good offer.

Simply mentioning the forum should be good enough, without a mention of username.

When I first signed up to Select I had to enter a code that was posted on Austech to get a free 2 months on initial sign up. Surely something like this is enough?

On another note it's great to have a Select TV rep back on the forum!

    Cheers,
    Leroy

    Absolutely spot on Leroypatrol....

We should also get the free two months as well for all the debugging as a courtesy for all our hard work in improving their business model.

    tried another box.
After Mr selecttvops escalated it, it was magically fixed.
Now on two different boxes scooby doo is frozen, all other channels are perfect.

Get a grip z80 - we are bound by all sorts of confidentiality requirements under a heap of different legislations with regards to subscriber details. Do you think we would compromise that for a few card only subscriptions?

Firstly, if you are a well behaved citizen then you shouldn't need to worry about any (confidential) link.

Secondly if it is for multiple subscriptions under one Austech id then how are we going to know who is who.

Thirdly, you have a choice not to participate.

Nice conspiracy theory though... Our intentions are honourable and I will include a confidentiality clause.

I don't want to broadcast a code and there won't be any free months.

yes i think a code posted here wouldn't stay just here for long.

as everybody knows deals and discounts are freely posted on other sites so there would be no benefit to austechians if every jo blo could use the same code on other forums/boards.

SelecTV already has my CC details, address, phone numbers and other particulars, including the size of my ...... shoes ....., so knowing the face behind the mask won't change much at all, as long as they agree never to reveal my secret identity, whereupon I might be potentially associated with TV pirates, card scammers and shonky dealers, and implicated in signal theft and hacking. My conscience is clean, I hope the judge sees it that way.

With all due respect to you SelecTV OP and your intentions, Maybe Z80 has a valid point, as far fetched as it might appear.

network using Strong 4658X latest official firmware as well today. So I don't think it's the box

Selectv Ops, another question for you.

In your Austech card only deliberations, have you given any thought to additional cards per household options ? I have checked the web-site but there's no mention of additonal cards and I assume its basically a full subscription. If I am wrong, then fair enough.

Sure you run the risk of the extra card being flicked over to grandma's house - but no more than the competitors do.

Jeepers, ya might even be REALLY cool and just charge for the card - given we've paid for content.

It would be another benefit, perhaps restricted to a max of 2 or 3 per subscriber.

    Cheers

Mate...you haven't been around the forum much have you?

Austech is full of pensioners, dole bludgers, gays and introverted forum rats that haven't got two pennies to rub together after the rent's paid.

You're dreaming if you think you'll squeeze more than one sub per member.

hell...they'll try and hit you for free postage on the card...LOL

Hi Mr Selectv, it will fascinating to see how your kind offer to Austech members turns out. I'm interested to see how many are willing to provide their personal details referenced to their Austech user ID. I guess you can then move on to other forums and make similar offers. In next to no time you will have gathered sufficient information which you can then on-sell to business partners who would like to share your database (subject to the appropriate box being ticked on your application form). I wish to congratulate you and your team on such a wonderful marketing strategy

Why keep posting in the thread ? You have clearly stated numerous times you have NO interest whatsoever in the product. Why not find a high definition foxtel porn thread to post in rather than posting in the pretense of protecting Austech members who you have labelled " pensioners, dole bludgers, gays and introverted forum rats ".

I must have missed something. I thought the original issue was the link between Austech userid and personal details not the gathering and distribution of personal information. You give away this info whenever you sign up to any service. If you decided to sign up like joe public and not through Austech you still have to divulge personal details so I don't know what you guys are going on about.

Personally I think it's great that Select are prepared to be flexible and accomodate us with a card only option. You would never get that from Foxtel or Austar. It will get to the stage if they get shit canned enough they'll tell us to bugger off it's not worth the hassel and then what will we be left with?

    Leroy

What....we regularly notate an application for a commercial service linking a forum id clearly intended for anonymity with financial details?

We don't regularly and wouldn't on just any forum but this really isn't just any old forum and Select is a reputable company not some fly by night operation. I don't have anything to hide from Select so it wouldn't bother me, but then I do still have my card only sub. At the end of the day the choice is up to the individual.
Obviously what I mentioned earlier about a special code is ideal if anonymity is to be retained but then there is the issue of every man and his dog taking advantage of the offer which is only meant for members.

I find it incongruous that a member that does not want to participate, is so vehemently opposed to others making their own choice.
It simply boils down to this, each and every member, depending on their own wishes or fears, can choose. If you are worried about your anonymity, opt out. That is what Democracy is all about.

Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".......
