I doubt Fernbay wants to field phone calls , emails and PM's all day while he is trying to earn a living. As its card only and there are hundreds of makes and models of receiver it means a never ending stream of questions.
Which is why Austech is here. So people can discuss problems such as these.
If Selectv are making an offer to Austech members exclusively , perhaps they should contact admin and see if perhaps a seperate Selectv support forum can be setup ?
I eluded earlier I think about using the forum and members here for support. That's what the forum is here for anyway.
The point I was trying to make was that an Austech CO sub wouldn't need to be a burden on the Select call centre as the staff would be able to identify them easily and then know how to deal/direct the person.

I'm sure SelecTV and their dealer(s) are capable of managing things. I wrote what I did mainly to help people appreciate that running such services involves a lot of behind-the-scenes work, and when restrictions are applied they're usually for good reason.
For example, the card colours probably wouldn't be any different because presumably SelecTV would be reusing existing cards and packaging. Printing new marketing collateral, especially new cards, is an expense to be avoided. Tracking different subscription types would have to be done by existing identifiers such as customer number, customer name & address, and perhaps card serial number. No doubt their customer database already has scope for dealer information. The issue isn't technical limitation - just policy, process and training.
I would suggest no extra free startup months.
People would know what they are getting because thay have done there research.
There is a class of people who prefer to pay up front rather than use credit.
It is important to have known costs. They won't be sucked in by a 'honeymoon' marketing ploy
One months activation would give them one month to make the account 'in credit' so it keeps running

Give me a sub that I can specify EXACTLY what channels I want, not groups of channels or packages of themes and i'll sign up straight away.
If I only want one channel why can't I have it Mr Selectv?

Hight speed internet streaming in the future is going to put a dent in all pay TV providers anyway.
