run newwcs on a PC ??

Hey all,

not sure where this should go really so I will start here & move as required please..

Looking to run newcs on a PC but the ver 1.61 (also 1.60 beta) that I currently have will report an error & crash/shut down newcs as it starts to run.

anyone able to help please..

PC is running XP Pro SP2
P4 2.26Ghz & 1GB ram

your problem is XP.
I have same problem,
but a lappy with Vista is sweet.
Using exact same settings on PC with XP Home & another with XP Pro I get the
error box.
Set the lappy running Vista and all works straight away.

I have tried NewCS 1.65 and XP sp3 a long time ago and found it worked well
Didn't like SP2 but i did have a dogey 12 volt psu driving my reader so it could have just been that LOL

I have been told that certain chipsets in machines are the cause for this to fail with xp.
But here is another thing to try but didnt work for me.
Right click properties of Newcs.exe and click compatability tab.
Then try to run win 98 mode hit apply.
Try all available, you may be lucky with one of them.

have u tried running newcs in the Local Disk C:

eg:

C:\newcs 1.65

try not to run it in C:\my documents\etc\etc\newcs

Running from here (trying to anyway) C:\newcs165\win32

still no joy..

EDIT :

Do i assume correctly that once newcs is running in whatever version , that a seasons card will not be able to connect to any form of sat box for pics as hummies have been used in the past ????

ie : card reader connected to PC running newcs and on com1, seasons on com2 & connected to sat box ??

otherwise I assume i will need to connect card reader to rear of dream & use it to Cs...

OK this is what i did long time ago

got this file from here


I got the files out of the win32 folder and put them into the bin folder
edited the newcs.xml to what need to be in it and then clicked on the newcs.exe and away i went no problem oooo

tried it & still errors out on me...

OH if i put a "space" in the com 1 then it doesnt give an error .. put it back to com1 & crashes...

the saga continues..

If you edit the newcs.xml & change the log output from console,tcp to none then it will run OK under XP, but this will stop any log output from being displayed.

The reason I'm running newcs from a PC is that there is a HP Evo with my HDTV Tuner that runs 24/7 under the TV anyways.. ( then the sat box sits beside it so 6 2 1.. 1/2 the other LOL

OK ... tis update time

With many hints,tips and lots of trial & much error on my part, newcs is now running on the PC.. ( ver 1.3 ) & I'm starting to "Dream up" round the house.

without there help over the past few days, I would still be trying to get newcs to run properly..

OK.. Looking for someone that may have tried / or even better got this working previosly..


Now that newcs is all running sweet etc

IS IT possible to use a seasons into a humax / Openbox from the pc thats running newcs.

I have all the bits & a 2nd com port on the PC.. just need to know IF it can be done and if so how to do the setup...

edit: I'm assuming NOT for a humax as they are only Irdeto..
