Im not saying that it hasnt worked for Mick, and good on him for finding a simple solution, im just saying that it is not recommended by the manufacturer. I have been doing warranty repairs on this type of equipment for over 20 years and using a belt grip is never a fix, its a fudge. The "proper" fix is a belt replacement, but due to cost or access to parts, some may choose to use the belt grip. Personally I will "always" change the faulty belt as that is how it was designed and there is less chance of additional contaminants being attracted to the gears and inner workings of the drive and gumming things up.
