It ain't over yet. There's a low right over Bowen and it's been dumping all the rain here.

Keeleys road next to me was partially washed away from a torrent of water that flowed through. Fools still drove around in it. There's dead cars laying everywhere.

Yeah I'm fine. I'm in a high set house, the bottom came within inches of flooding but not quite.

Thousands of others not so lucky and lost everything.

    Glad you are OK.
One of the pics out of Mackay showed a toilet flooded to top of the cistern, they had a high set house so they majority of the house was OK.

One of my work mates has a sister who lives there.

Her house got hit hard, 2 story house and the entire first floor is under water, and not just a foot or 2, she sent a picture message showing the water a few inches below the top of a 6 foot fence.

Here in airlie at the beginning of january, we had 470mm fall in 1 hour, that flooded quite alot of property, a company we work with had alot of their gear lost due to water damage. unfortunately the paper cones of speakers dont handle water very well.

Yeah... It was and still is a bit wet - my house survived by only about 5mm but as the dickheads drove down our street the wave caused some water coming in the door. Nothing a couple of towels couldn't stop for us unlike the house where I used to live in Glenella - around about 1m deep inside the lounge... Poor buggers

Well done to the Ergon guys too - even though we didn't have any power from 8am till midnight, felt bad seeing them out in the pouring rain, wind and lightning trying to please the rest of us.

Got me thinking too - with all the flooding, and also temporary loss of fixed line phones and everyone obviously using their mobiles, do mobile phone companies have some system that ONLY allows the use of either 000 or certain phone owners (say emergency services etc) to have access to the mobile network??

I live in airlie beahc (1.5hours north of mackay) and its starting to come up here. Just slow moving torrential rain. We haven't had as much as mackay has, but we have had some cracker storms that have blown in almost 40 boats and smashed them all over the rocks. We are cut off from the highway and the like (by some pretty big creeks) and I hear that proserpine is pretty much underwater.

Got some friends up in mackay who have lost a fair bit Definetely a bummer but thats what happens. Northern mackay is built on old swampland, and since this is the first major bit of rain we've seen on this scale in a long time, I dont think people knew quite to expect (learjet could probably shed a bit more light on this).

I've got some good pics of some pretty serious water coming down and some of the carnage from the storm. I'll post em up as soon as i resize and the like.

Yep it's pretty wet up here. I'm in West Mackay so I was lucky, the rest of Mackay didn't fair too well, just lucky there were no deaths (that I know of).
