To save people the time-waste of Rapidshare, here are the BMP images in PNG format:

The manufacturer is . They're a new, small player with name conveniently similar to .

You can read about Fortis and their products [2.2MB PDF].

If deciding what to buy, be careful: googling for "9000HD" gives which looks relevant at first glance, but on closer inspection it's for an unrelated product reviewed 18 months ago!

With the growing interest in high definition STBs we're seeing a proliferation of "me too" clones with deceptively similar names and appearance, just as we did a few years ago with Dreambox.

The new Fortis 9000HD product looks interesting. Korean made hardware is generally better quality than the Chinese clones, but for this market so much depends on the quality of the firmware. Time will tell how well Fortis' cardsharing software works; because Fortis aren't using Linux their client implementations are proprietary and may be buggy. The newcamd protocol is well established and stable so Fortis should be able to do the basics fine. They may implement a cardsharing server at some point but that's less likely.

Be aware that Dreambox softcams and plugins can't be installed on Fortis because its hardware and APIs are completely different. For example binary versions of NewCS have been built for many different hardware platforms running a range of processors, but all of them require Linux APIs. The only way NewCS for Fortis would ever appear is if the NewCS developers sent their source code to Fortis, or vice versa, and neither will ever happen.

Thanks, it's good to have that confirmed. The 9000 PVR appears to be their first Linux box. Perhaps you can take some closeup photographs of its internals for us to look at? And share with us hardware information shown in receiver menus or logs?

It sounds to me like Fortis FS-9000 HD PVR may be a clone of Kathrein UFS910. I say that because for it to be running newcs and gbox binaries it must be using hardware compatible with one of the platforms that those applications already support. AFAIK all of Fortis' previous receivers used processors such as Conexant CX24303, an ARM9 variant which weren't supported; with FS-9000 I suspect they've changed platforms to get Dreambox compatibility, which is great. But specifics are still fairly scarce so any details you can share would be appreciated.

Thumbs up The UltraPlus F-9000HD PVR is exactly the same receiver as Octagon 1018

Hi GW1 , the UltraPlus F-9000HD PVR is exactly the same receiver as Octagon 1018 (well know brand in Australia) and the software is made for NZ and Australia and we have never seen such an excellent PVR receiver for long time , it is even much better than the well know Octagon 918 and comes with twin tuner , 1x CA and 2x CI slots . I could asure you that the UltraPlus F-9000HD PVR is even better for NZ and Australian market than the similar model (different front panel) the Octagon 1018 , please google this model (thouseds of sites) and find what this mashine could do. Cheers

@jacksuper, join date Mar 2008 and your first post is trying to sell these boxes, maybe you should put up a post in the BST section.

Do they run the Foxtel Orange and Blue cards?
Do the CI slots work with CAMs?
What format does the file get saved in?

for the last few days i have tested ultraplus F-9000HD
-CA SLOT works with aurora I2....did not had a cam to test in the x2 CI slots but i guess it doesn`t work at the moment but its comming
-tried incubuscamd from the cccam server and works really well and stable and can have multiple incubuscamd lines
-records(tried USB HDD) on both tuners in HDef. in .ts format same as DM boxes i discovered that the box can be FTP-ed with FlashFXP ,much easier then with web browser(internet explorer)
    -zapping,channel change is fast
-picture quallity is very good and i have to admit as much as like my Azbox premium the f-9000 has better image quallity...dm800 with LT IMAGE is slighty better but also beats Occy 918hd
-so all in all i like f-9000 and so far its a very good HDef box for the money..... if they continue to support the box and bring us stable cccam,NDS and Irdeto cards to work flawlessly in CA or CI slots then its a real KEEPER

If it's the same as the Occy 1018 then it's twin DVB-S2. No DVB-T.

It is twin Tuner HD satellite and now the second CA is working with the latest software 107.75, in total 2x CA and 2x CI all working at the same time and yes indeed the CA will support all kind of Irdeto incl. UBI and will work while is CS as well just waiting for the update for NDS card to work directly as indicated. You could buy this set directly from the importer in NZ UltraPower Technology (accept paypal and Aussie account) with or without HDD much cheaper than the Octagon 1018 German version (at the moment Octagon 1018 costs Euro 465.00 without HDD). . Cheers

You haven't mentioned how much the UltraPlus F-9000HD is and if it's a hardware or software blindscan.

Well we are not interrsted to sell this product to the Australian market , our stock is limited and warranty for 2 years only for NZ, you could purchase the Octagon 1080 directly in Australia and for your info the UltraPlus F-9000HD PVR is doing hardware blind scan (very fast) , N*S card directly and price is much cheaper as you have quoted above without HDD >

Jack, Mediastar HD1100S has hardware blindscan, accepts NDS cards and is much cheaper than both! Not dual tuner but can record 2 programs and watch a third off the same transponder (shamless plug)
