USB Card Reader not showing as com port

hi guys,
i bought a usb card reader from satronics a while ago and not until now had a chance to play around with it, its a 6/10mhz usb card reader and unfortunately it wont show up as a comport only a usb serial, ive got all the correct drivers and jumper settings are correct. yet still no com

Are you saying it is only a USB cardreader. I have a Infinity USB cardreader and the usb is the only way to see/program it.
If this is the case for you, opening programs (FMcard400, Elvis) etc ask for a com port. I'm guessing thats where your having a problem.

For instance, I have a CAS3 USB programmer which has a USB port AND a 9pin com port. I can program stuff straight to the usb and it doesnt ask for a com port. BUT if I was to use say, FM400 then it will ask for a connection via a com port. The CAS3 software is great cause it then allows me to go into 'PHOENIX' mode. which turns my programmer into a com port programmer. I have a 9 pin port on it, so thats why it works.

Do you have a 9 pin port on your USB programmer ???

If you dont, then there is no way you can use this cardreader as a Com Port programmer/reader.

These new USB readers have a built in usb to serial convertor.

A driver is required and then you will find a new comport in your hardware settings.

My new comport was designated com6 which was no use as ggedit only goes up to com4.

It is easily re assigned a usable comport.

thanks guys i just spoke to the good people at sattronics and all is well now all it was, is a setting in the driver properties that needed to be ticked which was load vcp and all is well now
