I could not edit first post ,so I put it here:

    PW : paris2k
Instructions?? Hmmm I'm not so good at that but I will try :
    The dll files are located at : C:\Documents and Settings\????\ApplicationData\TomTom\HOME\Profiles \????.default\extensions\Navcore.7.?????@tomtom.co m
    (For XP)
    or for Vista : C:\Users\???????\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profi les\?????????.default\extensions\Navcore.8.?????@t omtom.com
    if it is a MAC : User's_Home/Library/ApplicationSupport/TomTomHOME/Profiles/????????.default/Resources/Extensions/Navcore.8.xxx.xxxx.mac@tomtom.com/8-xxx-xxxx-1.framework

If you copy the complete folder in the archive to (for the XP system) C:\Documents and Settings\????\ApplicationData\TomTom\HOME\Profiles \????.default\extensions\
You should end up with the patched Navcore dll in a subfolder with the right name.
The folder always has the same name like the navcore plus @tomtom.com on the end.
I hope that was good enough!!??

I want to get Downunder35 backup all working on me tt.

You have to copy the backup onto your sd card and the map folder from your backup as well.
    So far you're ok.
But you have to start the Tomtom once after that so that it writes a ttgo.bif - needed for the next step.
Download the to activate your map by clicking on write .dct.
That should be all as the ttsystem is already patched in my backup...

    hey downunder
i have downloaded both the backup and the latest (also the KG)
and i dont have a clue how to load, activate, operate the KG, which one to use. the help from the members is a bit (a lot) confusing - so many ways of doing what should be reasonably simple. no really, it is my inability to folow that is the issue here! sorry.
i have a tt730 which i bought from ebay and the aussie map included is not legit anyway!
    can you help me please?

1.I would suggest to get a empty SD card.
2.copy all files and folders from the backup to the card.
    3. copy the map to a folder on the card e.g. "Australia"
    4. start the Tomtom once and turn it off after you got the error regarding the map. (needed to write a new "ttgo.bif")
    5. download ,unpack to your hard disk and start the .Exe with your Tomtom connected to the computer (klick yes for connect to pc and make sure Tomtom Home is not running in the background).
6.klick on "make map keys" and thats it! Exit the keygen and restart your Tomtom.

thanx downunder but it doesnt seem to be happening
i have put your backup and the new aussie map on the clean sd card
shut down tomtom home svcs, restarted 730,
extracted keygen, ran tomtom3.exe then got the message "can not write to meta" or something like that
So then i deleted the old aussie map from system memory and pluged in my 730 and now the message is that "the usb device is not recognised"
ive turned it off and on, unpluged and plugged it back in but it will not connect to my computer! it doesnt give me the option of connecting, it just turns on to tomtom screen
    what am i doing wrong?
    thanx

Sorry for the delay ,but I'm with DODO and their network is breaking down...
I assume Tomtom Home is not running in the background ,because then the Keygen won't work.
I know the Navcore in my backup is already patched ,so that is fine.
If you use the 830.2352 map the key should be in the "meta.txt" for the keygen.
One last question : do use XP or Vista ,because I'm having trouble with the keygen under Vista....
You can try this to activate the map : - I know the meta for the Australian map is in there and I've used it myself on my GO730
By the way where did you download the map?

WAIT! i had an idea and it worked
all the computers in my house (5) are Vista OS but i just remembered that there is an old lappy with 2000 installed. it hasent been used for yonx
i copied the keygen onto it and then plugged my 730, went through the procedure and it actually worked!!

I thought I might try and run your TomTom go 730 from my SD card in my Destinator Smart Navi. What is the start file to use, I can't see any TomTom Navigator.exe or what ever else is suppose to start the TomTom.

I know you like playing with your destinator
But to save you some time :
The destinator runs on Windows ,Tomtom GPS systems on Linux.
So there is no chance to get my backup working on your device.
    Sorry...

    P N A :TomTom GO910 - 20GB
    DeviceName:TomTom Go
    BootLoaderVersion:55128
    NavCore:8413.1237
    Current Map: Australia
    Map Version No:830.2352

Thanks Downunder35m, managed to update my GO 910 to the above specs, using your . I used the full backup of GO 730 and the MAP you provided in that thread, it was a breeze once i committed my self into doing it. I've only tested it today, it went well, I like the lane guidance...this is new to me. 2 things didn't go as planned (so far ), GO 910 remote doesn't seem to be working, and the voice guidance...no voice is coming out, any idea? Thanking you again.

The remote is not working ,because so far there is no SE Navcore with the support for it.
For voice guidance you will need a computer voice installed - it was working on my device with Kate selected as computer voice afaik.

it's nice to hear kate's voice again . what threw me out before was, from the tt main menu you can actually select the recorded and computer voices but when you press the test button no voice comes out. even the volume test doesn't produce a sound, you do get the camera and speed warnings though. Another thing, with the tt sitting on a powered cradle be it car or desktop it takes a good 45 sec to a minute before you get the main menu but powering it on by itself will only take less than 20 secs.

Thanks so much to DU35m for the excellent guides, resources and general advice.

Since updating my Go730 to latest maps, navcore, the works using the I've noticed a few quirks with the operation of the unit.

None of them game-stoppers, but would be nice to fix if anyone knows that might be the solution.

The BRIGHTNESS PREFERENCES no longer seem to have any effect. Previously my 730 was extremely good at changing from DAY to NIGHT maps as ambient light dicated. Now it's as if there was no light-sensor there at all. Even in a pitch black room, the maps stay on DAY setting... I can go in and change it NIGHT manually, and then back to DAY as required. But it would be nice to have it do the same as before and handle that automatically... Any ideas... ?
