Not many SE Navcores include these feature ,same for the remote control.
I just use the voice commands "dayview" and "nightview" - works for me...
If you need the automatic switching :
Make a backup from your current system and play back your old system.
Update through TT Home till you reach the 8.351 - it supports all the features you need.
The extra programs can be added without a problem...
Only thing to do is to patch the Navcore with the Keygen and copy your mapfolder from the backup to your new system

I have so far spent 8 or more hours trying to get my tomtom go 720 operating again after trying to update map. I have used your full backup and the easy windows keygen thingo. The other one says an error with MSCINFO or something (i have Vista)
Anyway i've finally got past the frozen stage and up to select map but it says "You cannot use this map on this device:Australia-61"
i'm ready to throw it in the bin!

Well the error in Vista is from the mising active X and visual basic runtimes -you can update those for free on the mircosoft servers.
The Easy Activator works fine without them and if you use the meta.txt included with Keygen3.1 you should have no problem activating the map.

well i am having major problems.
Has anyone got a more descriptive step by step guide on what to do, as these instructions leave alot to be desired. I appreciate the skill and knowledge of the warez hackers but u need some instruction/tutorial skills for the lamo's out there like me.
Is there just a simple all in one Fullbackup WITH map WITH meta.txts and whatever you need?
I honestly would rather have not touched the thing and kept using old maps, the amount of trouble i'm having (i did not backup, no SD card. Me idiot).

Mate the Easy Activator is in German or something? And the keygen doesnt work on vista! When you say "use the meta" Do you mean copy the file onto the root directory of the device? This is what I mean by unclear instructions. I'm not having a go at you personally

My apologies.
The keygen need Active X and Visual Basic runtimes - I use Vista64 and it works fine on my machine (after updating these two components!).
You can use the [url}http://rapidshare.com/files/254379065/EA5_v0.57.18.rar]Easy Activator[/url] - if it gives you an error in regard to the "meta.txt" it means that the right code is not in there ,use the "meta.txt" from Keygen3.1D instead as it is complete.


The basic run is pretty simple with Easy Activator(a help is included,just klick on it) :
Install the Navcore and the map (the map into a folder on the root of the device) ,start your Tomtom once to generate a new "ttgo.bif" (it is needed by the keygens to activate the maps).
Start the Easy Activator and follow the steps (step1 choose tt8).

You don't have to copy any files for the use with the EA ,you can browse for them with a klick of a button and the map will be activated directly on your device.
Same for patching your system or Home.If you get an error while trying to patch your ttsystem it means that it is already patched - like most Navcors to download...
I hope it is easier to understand now.

Yes, thankyou easier to understand now. I have copied the entire backup over to my device and the latest Australia map with poi's. For some reason the file settings.dat wouldnt allow me to copy over the existing one, nor will it allow me to delete it from the device. Does this affect things?

Also, Easy Activator does not work for me. None of these key gens seem to do anything for me?
So here is all the information I can supply to help you understand my predicament.
I am running Windows Vista Home SP2
All Microsoft updates are current except IE8 (i need IE7 for work software)
I have extracted Easy Activator from the .rar and click on the Easy Activator.exe
An aqua box comes up and it says
"Extracting Pack Files..Please Wait
Working Directory Created OK!
Meta.txt Already present in App Folder
Captions.ini Already Present in App Folder
tt7_keygen.exe Extracted Successfully
tt8_keygen.exe Extracted Successfully"

then...there are error boxes which appear behind this. They say:
"75Unable to Decompress keygens. Run as Adminstrator. Error message: Path/file access error"
I press OK and added to the aqua box is:
"mswinsck.ocx Extracted Succesfully
mswinsck.ocx Registered Successfully
comdlg32.ocx already found on system
richtx32.ocx Extracted Successfully
richtx32 Registered Successfully
Waiting For Server Status Checks
Please Wait.........."

I press OK and everything disappears.
I can't access any menu's or help files etc etc. I have noticed though that an EasyActivatorTemp folder has been created with a meta.txt. file and tt8keygen.exe file if that helps????

Now, if I try KeyGen3.1.zip a similar problem. I extract the folder from the zip. I select TomTom3.exe
An error box says "Component MSINET.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered, a file is missing or invalid"

The easyusetool_frontend_045_gsmfree.exe file seems to work (even though its German, i can follow through the 4 steps, selecting the drive, selecting the map, pressing Go and then End. But the TomTom still wont recognise the map after wards? Does this easyusetool_frontend_045_gsmfree really do anything? Or am I supposed to copy a file somewhere after I use it?

So.....can someone point exact links to the ActiveX and Visual Basic updates I need to make these work, or is there something else I can do to activate my map. Or I am pushing sh1t up a hill! Surely other Vista users are having similar issues???

After a quick Google search I got this :




For Easy Activator : try a right klick on the file and "run as administrator" ,you need to have some rights to extract software like this under Vista
Was all so easy under XP....

And to make things complete : ,quickly translated in english.

OK! Right clicking Easy Activator and running as adminstrator worked!
I went through it all selecting ttgo.bif on device, my map folder, and the meta.txt that is included in Keygen3.1D
Created 3 .dct files it says. Sounds good then I exit.
BUT Now when I go through the setup of my device it keeps rebooting after I select a voice, it doesnt even make it to the map section.
Grrrr. What now?

Not sure ,that happens on some device after updating.
To a hard reset (hold reset button for 30sec.) and if that's still no good download the clear flash tool from the Tomtom website and use it on your device.

Did both the hard reset and clear flash to make sure.
It now allows me to select voice but alas, it then says 'No Maps to select'

Oh and I ran Easy Activator again, coz it said I may need to activate the map again.

Check the map folder if you have .dct file in there (that is the activation for your map.
Maybe something went wrong with the activation and you have to try again -have you used the TT8 option in step1 of the Easy Activator?

Definately .dct file in there. It is current too, checked its creation date and time. Re activated again definately using tt8.
Still says no maps.......
Time to throw it?

Do you get a error message at the start that you can't use the map?
Have you tried to change the map in the settings?- preferences ,manage maps ,switch map
If you get e error message at the start try patching the ttsystem agin - step6 with the Easy Activator

No error message. I just go through the setup
select language, time, right handed, voice etc. When i get to maps it says No Maps.
Tried patching ttsystem, says its already done or SE Edition.
I cant get into settings...

I just checked the thread again ,and I think you copied my backup over your old files ?
I've noticed that there might be some problems when you try to overwrite a Navcore as some files are not included as they are usually generated by your device. If there are old files on it they might cause a conflict.
As your system is not working properly anyway I suggest to delete all files and folders ,except the mapfolder.
In the mapfolder only delete the .dct files.
Copy all files and folders from my backup to the now empty device and start it once to generate a new "ttgo.bif" , run the Easy Activator again to activate the map.
Now it should work !!??

sorry taken me a few days to find time to get another look.
I totally deleted all files except map folder. In map folder i deleted all .dct files
copied entire fullbackup folder onto device.
turned it off, unplugged from computer turned it on. turned it off. replugged to computer. saw the ttgo.bif had been created.
used easy activator as per normal
turned device off. unplugged from computer
turned it on, went through setup selection again (language, time voice)
Still NO MAP FOUND! this is unbelievable.

are you sure there is a meta file for the map in the activator program you are using preferably

Use - or at least the meta.txt in there.
This meta.txt is complete for all 830 maps - only thing missing is the info for the new 835 maps and some premium voices.
