    On many ONE models the 8.413 plays up!
    You should try the 8.412 or the 8.410 as they are optimised for the use on the low end models.

    Your mapsettings.cfg (which contains all your favourites) is most likely the causing the tomtomt to reboot. As this file is incompattable between differnt versions of tomtom navcores. You will need to migrate the old settings file into the new tomtom navcore version.

    To perform this please follow steps 1 to 10 in my post back on page 1.

    There is no Navcore on CE devices.
    If you need a map for Australia ,the latest is the 830.2290

    Just loaded (Thanks to Carey Bennet) SE_Navcore.8.412.1236 and the Aust 8.35 onto a Tom Tom One (Not XL) and all appears to be fine, apart from the voices which I'll sort out.

    Cheers

    Downunder35m and/or Greg,
    I hoping you can point me in the right direction please. I'd like to upgrade my "TomTom XL Australia" to have lane guidance but an just not sure which is the best version for my unit. So what are the pros and cons of the following for my TT?
    8.413 Go730_fullbackup_plus_extras
    SE_Navcore.8.413.1237.Basicpack
    SE_Navcore.8.412.1236
    or are earlier versions better for my unit (no SD card and I think only 32Mb ram)

    The PNA info tool gave the following:

    P N A :TomTom XL 30 Series – 1GB TTS
    DeviceName:TomTom XL
    BootLoaderVersion:55026
    NavCore:8017.9381
    Current Map: Australia
    Map Version No:815.2059

    Also what are the correct switchfile details to use for my model?

    Thanks

    Please check the memory that is installed :
    Make a short push on the reset button - the unit should now be completely turend off.
    Turn it on by pressing the power button and as soon as you see the Tomtom logo and hear the drums press the power button again - you might have to do that 2 or thre times.
    Now you should see a linux test screen with heaps of info.
    Somewhere on the left is says "Memory" - in that line you'll find the amount of memory that is installed.

    The procedure might be a bit tricky ,but it works - you might need to try a few times to get the timing right

    Can't seem to get that to work? Also my unit makes no sound when starting up? If I press the satellite strength bars once it has started then press "version" button it says 32Mb RAM (free:7.4Mb) if that helps. I'll keep trying withe the start button though.

    No that's fine !
    I was just hoping for more info
    There is a special 8.412 for ONE devices ...
    It all depends on what you need.
    You can get computer voices to work if you really need them!
    If you can live without them you can use almost any Navcore on your device.
    You have to decide what's the most important bit is for to update...

    Spoken street names work on this unit out of the box. All it's missing is IQ and lane guidance I think. Maybe it's not worth trying to update it?
    Up till now I'd been using 7.915 on a pda which had no TTS but had a few extra features in the menus compared to this PNA unit which is why I wanted to upgrade it.

    The problem is that you need at least Navcore 8.2xx for the spoken street names ,if you use the new 835 maps , you 8.15 is a bit outdated
    PW: downunder

    The above Navcore should give you all the latest features including the possiblilty to use the new 835.2419 map.
    You still have to download the english computer voices (if you need them) and of course you need to activate the map...

    Before you start anything make a complete backup using the Windows Explorer -not Home!
    If something goes wrong or you don't like you can always go back to your old system

    Hi,

    I just updated my GO930 to the new Austarlain 835 maps without any problems so offererd to update my friends XL for her (I did the 825 maps a little while ago for her).

    Problem is the the XL is not recognising the 835 maps at all, so I assume I need to update the navcore.

    Now having never done this and that it's not my unit I'm doing it to I just want to make sure I'm not going to stuff it up!

    Can I update to the 4.412 linked above and if so what will I gain/lose in the process. The unit currently does not have ALG or IQ but does have spoken street names.
    Details of the unit are this;
    Code:
    DeviceName=TomTom XL
    DeviceVersionHW=ONE XL (v9)
    DeviceSerialNumber=XXXXXX
    DeviceUniqueID=XXXXX
    RamDiskVersion=20080529
    BootLoaderVersion=55011
    LinuxVersion=190943
    ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8010
    ApplicationVersion=9369
    Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated

    You're right ,your Navcore i too old for the 835.2419 map.
    And yes you can use the 8.412 posted above.
    Will give you a new menu and some new functions as well.
    You might have to update the bootloader as well - but first check if everything is working after the update ,if so I recommend keeping the bootloader.
    You can check the tutorials for the tools you need to activate the map- I recommend the Keygen 3.1F.
    It's pretty straight forward : make a good backup using the windows explorer.
    Delete all files and folders off your device and copy the new files and folders for the Navcore on it.
    Add the new map folder and start the GPS to generate a new ttgo.bif - do the setup and ignore the warning that you can't use the map on your device.
    Connect to the PC and run the keygen -make sure TT Home is not running in the background.
    Klick on "make map keys" and enjoy

    Well that was painless

    It's all loaded up, I didn't get any setup questions but did get a warning that there were no voices.

    I see there is a "LoquendoTTS US" folder in your 8.412 archve that seems to contain a computer voice, but the TT XL isn't recognising it.

    Any ideas?

    [EDIT] I tried deleting the "LoquendoTTS US" folder and getting HOME to download the computer voices again.
    HOME installed them into "LoquendoTTS" but I still can't select them. The non-computer voices download and work fine, but I don't get street names.
    The unit warns me when I go into voice preferences that I've selected a non-computer voice, but won't let me select one!

    I've read in other posts that the TTS won't work in 32MB devices, but the info too gives me this:

    P N A :TomTom XL 30 Series – 1GB TTS
    DeviceName:TomTom XL
    BootLoaderVersion:55011
    Serialno.:RHXXXXX
    DeviceUniqueID:AKXXXXXX
    NavCore:8412.1236
    Current Map: Australia_835_2419
    Map Version No:835.2419
    Cheers.

    Well ,computer voices are a problem on 32mb devices!
    You can try to use tha whole TTS folder from one of my backups and try ,but you might end up with normal voices only.
    Check the amount of free RAM with a calcultated route of a few hundred k's.

    Oh dear, so what does TomTom do for people who have these products when they purchase upgraded maps. They currently support TTS so is there a XL navecore with TTS and 835 map support or is TTS support dropped when they purchase a new map?

    I have a backup of my GO930 here so copied the whole TTS folder from that, but still no computer voices are in the list of available voices.

    She can live without ALG as she doesn't have that now, but she likes the spoken street names she had with 8.010 navecore.

    - I just tried a route to Melbourne. I have 4.4MB free.

    Cheers

    4.4mb RAM is in the lower limit area for computer voices.
    Please check if you have folder "config" on your device.
    If so open the file "setconfig.txt" and look for an entry "ttsoff".
    It it is there delete it and add "ttson".
