    What are your IP settings?
Is it via dhcp from your modem?

    Go into command (Start>Run>CMD>OK)
    Type in ipconfig/all
and what comes up as the ip, gateway, dns ?

Then, what is the IP of your Modem and both the wrts.

    Sorry to intrude,

Are you connecting the 2 routers to the modem by their WAN ports? and is DHCP turned on in both routers?

I think what you have is 2 networks using the same IP address & the modem is getting a little confused.

The WAN ports on both routers should be IP address assinged by DHCP, this way the modem will give the routers their IP address & DNS setting.

Network 1, the first router should have 192.168.1.1 as the ether address & the DHCP start address could be anything higher, like 192.168.1.10

Network 2, the second router should have 192.168.2.1 as the ether address & the DHCP start address could be anything higher, like 192.168.2.10.

When you go from inside to outside & you go out of range from router 1 the laptop will find router 2 & hopefully reconnect you.

    Hope this helps.

    ok way its setup is.
the inside router ip 192.168.1.1 has a desktop computer connected & working fine on the net. it does have DHCP enabled & the wireless is disabled..

the outside router ip 192.168.1.2 is hardwired with a 30mtr network cable to the inside router
the outside one has wireless enabled the laptop is connected but just need to figure out what settings for net access for laptop..

How I would do this is:

Connect both routers to my Modem by their WAN Ports. If the Modem has only has 1 port then I would connect router1's Wan port to the Modem and Router2 WANs port to any of the 4 switch ports on router1. (doing it piggy back might slow the notebook down a little)

I would leave the wireless access point option turned on both routers.
I would just rename the SSID to be Router1 & Router2 on the second router.
I would use the same wireless security code on both.
I would change the ether address to 192.168.1.1 on router1 and 192.168.2.1 on router2, leave DHCP turned on both routers.

On my PC's local area network connection properties I would leave the IP address to Server.
On Notebook's Wireless network connection properties I would leave the IP address to Server.

The above should work for you OK, should it not work you can try adding a DNS server (ISP's DNS) address On Notebook's Wireless network connection properties.

You find this in the modems WAN setting or log.

    Good Luck
