What is your IP Address. Im guessing its in the 10.0.0.0/24 range.
My bet will be your have ICMP turned off on the modem/firewall, thus not allowing the ICMP ping and traceroute packets to leave or return.
I have had some issues lately with online games so i ran a trace route to the log on server of one of the game, World Of Warcraft. It will reach 1 hop and then time out there after. I also ran the same thing to google.com and ended up only getting to 1 hop also. I'm guessing this is the issue... any ideas
Here's the results

Thanks for your advice, it got me looking about ICMP and The modem I'm using and all of the sites I'm visiting are saying that it doesn't support ICMP tracert packets... so it suggests to use a utility that uses UPD instead, so I'm giving that a go and I'll let you know how it goes.
Yep, well the UPD packet system worked and it's able to reach 20 hops with out too much trouble, but this raises the question for me, is this no ICMP thing going to effect my game?
without knowing what the games needs from ICMP I would expect it will either work or not and icmp ping is used to show you how slow the connection to the other players is.
RFC says sites should support ICMP Echo adn ECHO Reply.
ICMP Redirects will tell a computer/router to use a different hop, but if the routing protcols are working all routers should already know about those.
ICMP "packet too big" could lead to issues. This is where you send a packet of X size (eg: 1500 bytes), but a router on the way will only deal with packets of 1450 bytes (for example). That router will send back an ICMP packet telling you its too big and to make it smaller. If you dont receive this packet, your computer will just assume it got lost and resend.
O.K, so it would be in my best interest to get ICMP packet support then, so I'm assuming there's one option of a new modem, or is there a software solution to get around this, again, the modem I'm using is an Alcatel Speedtouch Pro (hacked from home) not sure what model number, if there is any...
I dont know the modem, but I would be surprised if there was not an option to enable ICMP somewhere.
I'll look deeper on some websites to see what i can i'll post back for those who are interested if i find anything, ty for your help crypto7
Just looking through some old stuff and found my old ADSL Modem. It was the home version speed touch. This was a modem only. It did not to any firewalling at all and was working in PPPoE brdige mode. I then had my firewall send to PPPoE connection via the modem. This never had a an ICMP issues at all.
My question is do you have a firewall ? Are you using the windows firewall ? if so check your windows firewall settings.
