Have not herd of this programmer myself,

it may be better to try to get one people on this forum know of,

in case you need some help when programing a card,

The (KC5361) Jajcar MII is in kit form from Jaycar & can be purchased on the net, (& there are many posts about it on this forum),

but it comes in kit form, & needs some soldering & electronics skills to put it together,

Other programmers are Cas 3, USB Infinity, & Elvis, but if you buy one from Sattronics, or other places make sure you can both program the PIC & Eeprom of a gold or Silver Card, not all programmers will.

Look though the programmers threads & see what other people are using etc...

Have a Mastera 5 on order but going over my head here no shore if it will program the whites thus i be thinking of the line of these types that you can put the card into something like this reader, and uses a usb to connect to your computer etc
will have a look at the KC5361 as you say heaps of help here on Site
PS also order some cards from Kangamail--cheaper than I thought

Just checked the Prices at Jaycar $54.95 as a kit - haven`t done something like that for a long time
I midht have to give it a go !
I`ll wait to see what you say about the Mastera5.

The (KC5361) Jaycar MK II cannot program Whitey's,

It can only program Gold, Silver, or Emerald Cards for Aurora,

Whitey's are dead anyway at the moment,

depends what you want to do I guess....

    Red face Build Jaycar KC5361

    Okay,

So here I am thinking I could put this thing together, no sweat mate, I've modded a few xboxes in my time, so this should be a breeze? Right? Right?

Ummm, so ok, I jump on the train and head in to my nearest Jaycar and have a small chat with the assistant salesperson there (who advised me against it) however feeling very confident I decided to pick one up.

I headed out, sat down at the train station waiting for the train and decided to have a quick squiz at the instruction manual bundled in the pack...

UMM, WTF!? So I placed the manual nicely back into the package and headed straight back to the Jaycar store and promptly asked for a refund, at which point the salesperson took a look at me and laughed..

So anyway not to bore you all to cut a short story long, I basically now need someone to sell me one of these units, and preferably something that looks as cool as the finished product with the 3.5" bay, oh and it has to work too... Am I asking for too much?

I have used both the Mastera 4 and 5. They were very good units. They will do everything that the jaycar mkii does plus more.
The 4 was rs232 only, while the 5 was rs232 and usb. Note: It is not supplied with any usb drivers or apps. Its been a long time now, but I did get the usb going for the programming in PIC/EEProm mode. So try a few different apps. I think it was inifinty style, but the real inifiy apps said it was not one of there programmers.

At the end of the Day, the 5 was good. I just used the USB as a pwr source to the Master V.

Keep in mind that depending on what cards you are "programming". when you do a goldie or silver (PIC Cards) you are writing the "os" to the card. The newer cards come with loaders and OS already on them. You are then simply "installing" an application. If this is the case, it should work in pheonix mode (check the notes for what you have).

A trap can be the baud V clock of programmer.
eg: Most common is the 6Mhz = 9600 baud. But at 6Mhz it MAY be a differnet baud. eg: 3.5Mhz could = 9600 baud. One is ISO and the other is the application level.

Bottom line, the Master 4 and V are good devices.
