Yes Sanity is correct, In those day's greedy people used the DTH coco which allowed you to see optus channels as well ( when they had Sat pay TV). But if you had a goldie and just stuck XFN or whatever on it, then the coco changes didn't make a difference to the provider suppied box. If you had L140 on the Pace box you were OK as well
Bastard sellers would use the DTH and then charge a small fee to correct it every time it changed. Buyers started to get a little pissed off when this started to occur every two weeks or so.
Never did know if anyone had a working DTH HSN.
And so they flocked here to learn and do their own cards.. Anybody remember what the most users in one night was back then??

Not sure how many users logged on but it was a lot more than what you see here now.
I do remember they were sending some strange coco's.
I use AUS for all 3 providers on my goldie now and it works ok, i should change it to something else and see what happens.
In regards to the Elvis i know GGedit and FMcard work when it’s in phoenix mode so I’m guessing LMEdit would work as well. You need Multiprog to run the Elvis in phoenix mode and to load the pic files.

open your eeprom file with icprog
from your crd files you will see the memory locations it is trying to write to
edit the hex file and save
write the new files with elvis
if your details are correct you should have pics in a short time

Here's a dump of some tutorials I found in a quick look around the european forums. I haven't checked them so can't guarantee they work.

I've also rounded up a few versions of MultiProg which seems to be one of the popular tools used with Elvis:

    --------------------------------------------------------

You need Multiprog 1.90 to program the card
Use any of the 6in1 hexes for Humax etc
Connect the serial lead to programmer and com port
Use a mains power supply not a battery
    Run Multiprogrammer 1.90
In setup tab select the correct com port (usually 1)
    Go to Funcard Tab
In left hand column click on top line and type name of hex e.g. Xamuh
    When finished press enter
    Untick internal eeprom
Click on Load for flash memory and select the flash hex (eg Fun_6in1_AT90S8515_V4.30.hex)
Click on load eeprom and select eeprom (eg Fun_6in1+_24C64_Humax_Nokia_0412.hex0
Change ext EE to correct eeprom size for your funcard. If not sure leave it as 64 cos it will still write
    Loader should be Adteknik
    Check fast write
Put card in programmer with contacts facing down
Click program. it will tell you when finished

Put in receiver and watch TV.

To update it as keys change:
    Go to Phoenix tab
Type eg Funcard 3 in L column and press enter
Click load and just load the new eeprom file
Set ext EE as 64 or correct one for your funcard
    Loader is FunXin1
    Click write.

You only need to update the flash again if there is a change, which doesn't happen all that often thankfully.

    --------------------------------------------------

    How to programme using Multiprog
Credit to: bhrn & qusar of PX

    Using Multiprog

When you start multiprog first click the setup tab and choose the com port that your Elvis is connected to

    For Funcards

    Click the Funcard tab

In the window with the scroll bar top left click on one of the empty spaces and give your project a name

If you are programming a 5in1 card tick the Flash, EXT EE & Verify EE check boxes now click the load button underneath the Flash check box and load you Flash.hex then click the load button underneath the EXT EE check box and load your EEprom.hex, click the identify button then the program button your card will now be programmed.

If you are programming a hex that requires the Internal EEprom to be programmed as well (Funvia) tick the INT EE box and click the load button underneath and load your internal EEprom before you press the program button

    ----------------------------------------------------------

For Piccards ( gold , silver etc )

    Click the Piccard tab

In the window with the scroll bar top left click on one of the empty spaces and give your project a name

Click in the card window (top right) and choose the type of card you want to program (Gold, Blue, Silver or Green)

Click the load button under Where it says Pic (directly below the window where you named the project) and load your pic.hex

Tick the EXT EE check box, click the load button directly below and load your EEprom.hex

Press the Program button to program your card

    Kind Permission of "qusar" PX

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    M2 programming

1/Open Multi prog and click on MP set

2/Click on power on then choose phoenix 3.58MHz

3/Go to the top right hand corner and minimise your multi pro

4/open you M11 exe file and click on prog card

5/A icon will appear to tell you your card has progged

    or

there is a feature in Multiprog V1.80, that can make it very easy for you.
Go to the MP set tab,
Press CTRL and right click on one of the empty buttons in the lower part of the program. A setup menu will show up.
Enter a name for the Button, like MII.
Enter the path and program name to MII.exe (C:\MII\M-II.exe or similar)
    Then press exit setup.
You have now got a button called MII, that sets the programmer in phoenix mode, launches the M2 program, and then power the programmer down after exiting the program.
Next time you downloads a MII program, just overwrite the old one, and it will continue to work.

The above works on all kind of programs for elvis, that uses phoenix/smartmouse mode, and can be used as an example.

The programmer that you use, has got to be compatible with the Programs that you use,

(apparently LMEdit cannot be used with the Elvis programmer, (but try it with the .ocx files in the same folder as the program))

    I personally use,

    The Jaycar MK II programmer,

& I use ICProg 1.05A, to program the Pic & the Eeprom (with the hex files),

& I use LMEdit to write the Aurora details to the card

    Card finished,

    From what Ive read

    The Elvis Programmer,

uses Multiprog to program the Pic & the Eeprom (with the hex files),

& GGedit can be used to write the Aurora details to the (gold) card

    Card finished

Apparently, FMCard can be used in both The Jaycar Programmer & the Elvis Programmer, by editing the .crd files with the Aurora details & writing the .crd files to the card,

I'd be surprised of report that GGedit works with something that LMEdit doesn't. They are both just using phoenix mode. If GGedit or FMCard work then it should be possible to get LMEdit to work.

The only reasons I can think of for possible difference would be
    • if LMEdit is fussier about CD status or other handshaking lines
    • if LMEdit speed/delay settings are too aggressive
    • LMEdit may have different DLL dependencies to GGEdit - easily solved by downloading and registering the DLL(s) reported in startup error messages

Here are three versions of Fun 6-in-1 that I collected years ago, vintage 2002-2005.

It's pretty easy to load a goldy up using an Elvis and Ghost Gold.

    Run MultiProg.exe
    Choose the "PIC" tab.
Under "Card" set it to Gold
Under "Pic Mememory" Click on load and choose "GFGold v2.2.6 Dual No Updating Coco.hex"
Under "External EEprom" Click on load and choose "GFGold v226 eeprom.hex"
Under "Code Protect" untick "From File", and set to "off"
    Click on "Program"

Once it's loaded, choose the "MP Set" tab
    Click on "Power On"
    Click on "Phoenix 3.58"

    Now you can either:

Edit the "GFGoldPersonal.CRD" with valid card details, and then send the "GFGoldPersonal.CRD" to the card using FMCard.

    or

Use GGEdit or LMEdit, to load your valid details to the card.

    Default Pic Programing

    Yes Osirus
Had a bit of a Win there
    Started up MultProg
Select Com Port in Setup Tab
    Tab, MP Set Power Off
Tab, Pic Type in "Gold" Left Screen Select Gold Card.( in 12C and Single Chip as well all 3 must have the same sattings).
Pic Shows 16F84/A and Ext EE shows 24C16
Pic Memory "Tick" Box and Right Click "Load "All you have to do find that file as White ox wrote ... Files Required
GFGold v2.26 Daul No UpDating COCO.Hex
from "All you need Gamma Tools" which has FMcard, LMedit and ICProg included
open GFGold226 and Select The Hex File above
When Loaded the Bottom Processing Screen Goes Green and tell you you have load the Hex File sucessfully

Now all you have to do is Load it to Gold Card
so in Goes a Card in to the Elvis Programmer
Pins Down and Click on to the Program Button Check
Click "Program" and away if goes after a minute or so settles down I think the Bottom Process screen turns Green and the top Line goes Yellow and tell you have load Pic memory successfully If it turns Red something not set right.

and its not quite the same for silver
Best always write down what you have done some times the 12c and Single Chip or the one your working on resets to previous set points

    so thats bit
then start LMedit Fill in a the necessary details of your old card and thats about as far as i gotten so far.....
Not bad considering i was tring the otherway for weeks writting you own program almost.
    There you go Osirus

The Coco's are not that important,

All the details you need (to write to the card) to get pictures, is the HSN & the HMK,

then put the card in the STB & wait for an update (usually within 1 hour)

    Default First Gold

Well I think I`ve done it

Loaded MyPersonalGoldCard to FMCard with Multiprog Running
    Phoenix mone 3.57

had that problem with the coco`s different programs don`t do everything the same LMEdit uses "AUS" and GGedit was the same and the FMCard uses
" FF FF FF" for the Gold
    L
    After Switching On in Multiprog
LED lights up on Elvis and then
Send the File to GoldCard in FMCard
after about 3 Minutes Elvis was working hard at it blinking away
and a bit of activity on the Screen, FMCard aslo.
    TX and RX happening
had settings : TX = 5 and 2 seconds Delay in Rx in FMCard.
all worked out well. no errors.

The Delay helps you work out your Programming errors
just leave Multiprog switched off untll you have sorted out all the bugs and then Switch On , Multiprog.when your ready.

Tomorrow I`ll redirect the dish from D2 to Aurora to see what happens
and then work on the Silver.

Get a better pic programmer.. Elvis is just a pain in the ass. If you spent $50 and got a Jaycar programmer you would not have had half the problems you did with the Elvis.

to edit your hex with icprog

    // SET COUNTRY CODE (B1 B2 B3)
    //
    01 FF 00 00 00 05 02 49 B1 B2 B3
    01 FF 00 00 00 05 02 5A B1 B2 B3
    01 FF 00 00 00 05 02 81 B1 B2 B3
    //

first line writes the coco to memory location 0249
second writes to memory location 025A
    third to 0281
all crd files are the same
so from the crd you can find the memory locations and write to the eprom hex manualy via icprog save and exit and write with elvis

    Default Icprog

    I`ll Try this out
But is there a manual on FMCard this would help
i tried ic prog to Read the Card but that was all FF FF etc
all I thought I need is to get the ATR and ASN right as in FMCard I have HSM and 00 Provid id and already progammed in the FMCard windows and also shows AUS
If the System .crd which is missing in all files I have found so far in FMCard
ie Date ,ATR KEYS etc this file .crd must must be somewhere ?

AS for the Jar Car its in the Mail 2 weeks already no sign of it yet and then u have the Mods that GW1 wrote about I thought Elvis lives on even thou Mick Jackson has not.

Anyway the Satallite now is pointing at D1 at 73% didn`t know they are all so close ie D2 then JCSAT C1 D1 and than InterSat8 going clockwise boy is very hard to get even That Far All the others at set at 45 Deg had to lower the Sat Dish to get it Right for
    D1
Intersat is a very strong Signal

    Mick

Why are we all going around in circles all you have to do is stick to the facts!
