Have been looking for Ghostsilver file for some time and i must admitt being on this site for a very short time like a month it is amazing how much one can learn in a short period in time, i await for goodies in the mail so i`m still researching the in and outs of this complex area and some thing I should have done years ago
thanks for all that have got me this far.
Question is is a Ghostsilver file same as a GhostFunCard

Thanks

The cards are in the mail shouldn`t be long now
let you know how it goes.
Mick
ghostsilver is pic
ghostfun is atmel
different card type/processor
different programer/mode and software
the next question is to make a gold iI have at present a Phoenix / Smartmouse TPS-3101 V1.3 might have to add
another switch to it to do both i don`t know the difference as yet but there must be some benefit to have both why have one and not the other but I have noticed that Y1 is the 6.0 Mhz and Y2 is 3.57Mhz thanks to Gw1 circuit diagram in the Phoenix TPS-3103 thread .
how does one do ahead in making a gold with this programmer?
Mick
You two related?
Come on I only refer his to work on this and any other problem one has had on this site .ie who is the shull do u know? him i don`t
Give him some credit ----no one`s here forever.
if willing to Listen I`m all ears

Settle down.
I was talking about your usernames.
Eg: mickc V mickcc
And I'm not even sure I understand your comments.

thanks billygoat most likely a miss understanding with mickc
u are most needly of new glasses, any input?
regards
mick
That is a Phoenix interface. You use it with programs like FMCard, GGedit or LMEdit to load keys into a smartcard once its program code has been written. You need to write the code first otherwise the card is unable to communicate via Phoenix interface commands.
The Phoenix interface cannot program a blank card though, nor can it rewrite a card's code with a different program (except for special processors which are able to self-program their flash memory via a ROM loader). For that you need a programmer which supports other modes besides Phoenix; for example, JDM mode.
There is no industry-wide standard for programming blank cards. Each manufacturer does their own thing. JDM programmers are designed for Microchip PIC based cards such as gold, silver and emerald. Funcard programmers are designed for Atmel AVR based cards such as Fun, Jupiter, Atmega and Black.
You can't. You need to buy a second programmer. I suggest you look around for one which is capable of programming both PIC and Atmel cards (ie gold, silver and fun) as those are the main ones. I'll leave it to others to recommend particular products.how does one do ahead in making a gold with this programmer?
i use a infinity usb unlimited and it works great. can program all sorts of cards. Retails for approx $170 and has an internal phoenix mode emulator so no need for serial cable - just the 1 usb. I'm sure there are also others that are quite good to.
And I just missed out getting and Elvis Programmer that was up for grabs on this site...
ok I did order a back up plan an Mastera v thats in the mail as well
looks like I have Icprog and Fm Card
I`ll get started when it rolls up.
Mick.

Here is where I got my Infinity USB Unlimited from

Serious hobbyists might like to take a look at Duolabs' .
They are more upmarket and have a bunch of features the average home viewer will never need, but for experimenters they're great.
Lots of stockists have them including , , and .
If all you want is TV with minimum spend then CAS Interface is massive overkill. But if you're into satellite hobby for the long haul and are thinking of paying $140+ for a multi programmer then IMO the CAS Interface is a good investment that's worth the extra money.

Still have some time before everything rolls up in the mail
the MasteraV I thought would be a good Programmer.
Quote me if I on the wrong track being stand alone I think the IcProg works with this programmer. but Mastera is not in the listing in the IcProg
Mick
Commercial programmers may have operating modes which are compatible with IC-Prog, but more often they come with proprietary software which you're meant to use instead of IC-Prog. Their programs work much the same way: choose your card type, browse to your hex files for code, internal & external EEPROM, then click button and it programs all three.
USB based programmers especially are likely to use proprietary software tools rather than IC-Prog. (The programmer products supported by IC-Prog are listed .)
Some USB commercial programmers have Phoenix emulation mode. Their driver creates a virtual com port (eg COM3) in an effort to be compatible with the swag of applications written for conventional RS232-based Phoenix interfaces - applications such as FMCard, LMEdit, CardWriter and NewCS. Usually this works, occasionally it doesn't. Do your homework before buying.
Just because your commercial programmer is expensive doesn't mean it will support all the programming modes you might need. I paid $$$ for a nice intelligent programmer called "SmartProg DIGIT" many years ago, which supports programming and standalone copying of a good variety of smartcards. It didn't support Phoenix mode though, something I wasn't aware of when I bought it, which means it was great for programming blank cards with hex files but no good for key loading tools like Ausgold Card Writer, FMCard, LMEdit, etc. For those I needed to use something else which supported Phoenix mode, such as Jaycar Mk II kit.
the masteraV works with icprog
havent used it for awhile but it works under 1 of the programer types
with inverted data i think
have a play when you get it
are we related?
