wow people at work were looking at getting these as we had a community meeting recently promoting a bulk buy. We were only chatting about it at morning tea today. Looks like a lot will miss out now.

Just wondering if anyone has got or applied for one of those 1kW grid connected solar systems with the $8000 rebate?
i got an email today from a vendor that stated the rebate ended at 5pm today and not June 30th.
made a quick call and drove to a supplier.
Boy what a PANIC they were in.
ringing potential customers trying to finalise things.
Anyway completed my application at about 4.30pm.
now just to see if the 1kw grid connected system is worth the effort?
Basically 7x 175w solar panels and a 1kW inverter.
btw i use 48kw a day, a bit more than the norm.
so i guess i will save about $1 a day, not a lot, but should break even in 18months.
system is to only cost me $500 + the connection and new meter (approx $120 -$200)
anyway it seems a total money grabbing exercise for the vendors.
they tell me that they have about 1-2 years work in the pipleine now installing approved 1kw systems.
That's a shitload of government $$$$$$ being handed out

a new rebate scheme is now in place and it seems that there wont be any restrictions on applications.
(earn over $100k combined income excluded etc)
however the actual rebate will be lower.
still worth considering though.
i got an email from energymatters.com.au
but bought from a vendor in Hallam vic (mainly cos it was only a 10min drive to the shop to fill in the forms )
not sure of the "quality" of the components, and i bet they wont be BP Solar or Suntech panels
Anway leroy you just sold all your panels????
now theres a thought, decommission the instal and sell the panels............
i wonder how many people will be doing that for some cash
they were old panels and i couldn't be bothered putting an eye sore on the roof!

This will see the market forces sort out the true cost of these set ups. The government will subsidise less, but the REC's will be tradeable and they may bring more benefit to lowering the price to the consumer.
Hopefully there will be an increase in people putting systems above the pitiful 1kw system in place as these barely make it worth the effort.
iam a bogan
Yeah, my sister paid the $1500 a week ago.....she made it to the PO yesterday, the postie waitied for her so she could get the forms in the mail. So long as the post stamp was dated yesterday they would accept it..... she made it by a matter of minutes only.
Well I had to cancel my last 2 clients as They put an ad on the Radio saying that forms had to be handed in by 5:30 on Tuesday, I heard the radio at 4:30 and had a 45 minute drive to get there on time, Stood in a freezing cold line up for 40 minutes, but got my paperwork in, they Stayed Open a little longer to help get threw the line up... Mind you I had organized to go to the town where I had to sign paperwork Wednesday ( Today) as I had A Client booked in there anyway so had to make a rush Special trip.. Wasn't Happy, Was about 40 of us in the line up when I got there all not happy with the unexpected end to the scheme..
Hi,
Just joined a local (Melbourne) new solar neighbourhood. Great deals
for solar grid connnected panels/systems for those who have applied for the government rebate and those who haven't.
If interested, send an email to solarmates@gmail.com
They also have new great packages for solar hot water systems which I am about to look into.
