I have had a couple of laptops with this, where they have sold then to shops
and if I remember right I had to change the bios to English
or do a update of the bios (for English version )
Then reload windows

umm there are chinese versions of XP around... my guess is that a chinese version was installed if this is how it came.... the only way I can think of fixing this is installing an english version
doesnt sound like you bought windows xp with your 'puter and it was just loaded on there LOL
See if you have muisetup.exe (Multilingual User Interface) on the laptop, if so run it and see if you can select or add English that way. You may need some Xp disks though. Have not used it myself but it exists on the PC here.
yeah, I bought the computer and it was in chinese. There is a bios password on it and I cant format it. I'll try the MUI ssrattus. Thanks.
Is it a laptop or desktop???

get the password from who ever you bought it from... sound like a 2nd hand computer....
desktop.
Depending on your motherboard or computer manufacturer you may be able to reset the bios by pin jumper shorting or even cmos battery removal or backdoor passwords eg
or try
ok, I got rid of the bios password. Now I've tried loading dvd-drive first to format c:, but it's running under raid..... 'help?'
Thanks ssrattus, I'll give that a try.
Ok, fixed thanks for the help!
