Question 360 - how to check what software version?

I bought a second hand Xbox 360 Elite 120GB 5 months old last night. How do I check that it has the latest software on it?

Yes, I suppose I'm refering to the dashboard? Does these have firmware that is upgradeable too or?

$300.00 with receipts for original purchase + Colin McRae Dirt and some Poker game. Not a bad price in my opinion since I see that Game is the cheapest with them at $529.00 online.

if its 5 months old and it hasnt been plugged into the net it wont have the latest dashboard update , if you mean firmware it wont have the latest either as thats only a couple of months old.

So comes back to my original question, is there a way to check? How is it updated? Because I'm not seeing it in the menu...

if its plugged into the net it automaticly updates, so if youre not getting a prompt too update you are upto date..... unless youre banned from xbox live.

yes you need an xbl account or if you just want the new dash update buy or hire a new 360 game as it is included in them now as well and will prompt you to update before allowing you to play the game
