    Default static ip bigpond cable

    does bigpond cable come with a static ip sales girl just told me it did but have read before that it does not. Any help with this would be great

    Yes, dynamic for cable broadband as standard.... same as ADSL.

    If you disconnect the line or power to the modem, when it re-starts, it will have a different IP.

    Static IP is available at additional cost.

    Why would you want a static IP on Bigpond? If you're going to use a server on the network in any capacity, that's purely ridiculous. Don't forget they double-dip. Downloads AND uploads are counted.

    One good reason for a static IP.

    Work may only allow fixed IP address to create a VPN.
