Had a major mal with 1TB system drive (BSOD at welcome screen) ,after trying with repair console and repair OS install I finally overcame it by installing OS to second clean 400GB drive already in system, recovering data and formating the offending drive but due to the way I did it the boot drive is now called D:and Windows won't let me change it. Is there a way to restore it to C: and set my drive letters back to a familiar order. Help would be appreciated.
BTW I had intended for a long time to revert the 1TB drive to storage and use the 400 GB for system but had been lazy, the mal forced my hand

Well, that went well, I read the document carefully, followed it's instructions to the letter (pardon the pun) and now I am in the process of reinstalling Windows again after it crashed completely. Oh well I needed something to do anyway.
No problem Neutral, not your fault, I thought the doco looked good and gave it a go. Once done the system booted through the black welcome screen then hung on the blue Windows screen. I couldn't even get to go into into safe mode ... it may have been because I had already changed the drive letter on the old drive before giving it a go. Or I may have read the instructions wrongly .. whatever, it's all experience. Anyway now I have a clean sheet to start on again and I've lost nothing but a bit of time.
I use dyno tape gun for changing drive letter...works bootiful.
