Australian Government.
Department of Broadband,Communications and the Digital Economy.
dated 15 June 2009
In response to an email sent in February regarding the Media announcement of the Mildura/Sunraysia Area I received a letter from the above today detailing the proposal for this area and it being a Pilot program for the rest of Australia during the changeover to Digital FTA.
Breifly it is as follows,
A new satelitte service to extend access to digital television to viewers living in parts of the Mildura/Sunraysia area, where broadcasters have not built transmitters or where signals from existing transmitters are deficient;
In-home assistance to help targeted households;
a labelling scheme to help consumers to easily identify digital ready products and services; and
working with the industry and the local community to improve awareness and understanding of the switchover;
this is the website and a freecall number of 1800 201 013 available weekdays from 8.00am to 10.00pm (AEST)
There is a little bit more in this letter but this is the main part of it.
Now to wait and see and for those like me in a threshold area and those totaly in the 'Black' or about to go 'Black' to continue to lobby for an OZ wide digital FTA coverage.
This letter is signed by,
Paul Vincent
Assistant Secretary
Digital Switchover
Management and Program Coordination.
