77002 ps2 won't boot games without some help

Hi guys, my grandsons PS2, a 77002 always gets to red screen at bootup.
But, if you put slight pressure on the lid at about the laser position, it boots up ok.
Once booted up, it runs fine....until you want to play another game, lol.

The lid locks down ok and looks like it's sitting square on the console.
I don't think it's been dropped or abused but mind you, he's only 6

Hmm, Boot method used is: insert ps2 game, close lid and press reset.
It is chipped with a Matrix Infinity.
Can't think of anything else to add atm.

That model is common for that fault....they have 2 lid microswitch's...one near the power /reset button & one diagonally across on the other end(where the hinge is).....quickest fix is to solder a link across that 2nd switch, hence bypassing it & it will be sweet from there

Just to clarify, do you mean to bridge the microswitch near the hinge, or, wire it from the 1st microswitch?

Bridge the microswitch near the hinge, as that is the one causing the fault.
