First : you map is a bit old ,835.2419 would be the current map.
Second : there are tutorials and tools to find here , I suggest you start with reading the instructions and dowloading Keygen3.1F
    Tomtom GO730 ,Navcore 9.004 ,Bootloader 5.5256 ,Map :Australia 845.2661

    Smile Thanks

Downunder35m thanks mate got my recently aquired G730 updated as per your tute.
Just a point to note as it was not clear in the instructions.
I went for the SD card method, but the instructions being for both intenral and SD method seem a little confusing. I only worked it out by reading through a number of difrent threads and your posts in those threads.

The key step was first copying your own full backup to the SD card then overwriting it with the fullbackup provided here plus maps. Theyn running the keygen.

I also noted that for some reason my first fullbackup of my device (this was after i had already update to latest maps with TT home once before). That the main bif file did not copy accross for some reason. I had backup again to make sure i had this file ont he SD card. Without this file i dont think the Keygen will work.

Couple of questions. Do i need to update the boot loader? IF so which is the best version and hod do i do this. Which files is this contained in?

Are the Spped Cam updates downloaded by keygen compatible, i mean do i need to repatch if i use these? Are they the same as the ones you put up from time to time in your thread for POI updates? How are these diffrent to tht TT subscrined updates?

Is there any issue with updating the SD patched version i know have using TT home? I use this to get mapshare updates etc.

I am using a 1gb SD card for now, but am thinking about putting in a bigger one. What is the most ecconmical but compatible brand model to get? Also when i do upgrade will a simple copy of all files from the current card to the new card be sufficent or do i need to patch the new card?

    Thanks and Regards

PS its good to be back on these forums again.

You only update the bootloader if you have to (for the support of a new Navcore) or if you have other problems cause by an old bootloader.
Never touch a good working bootloader!
The speedcams downloaded by the keygen are the ones you would get from Tomtom if you pay for it.
Except for Navcore updates you can use all updates ofered by TT Home - and you should to keep it up to date.
If you upgrade to a bigger card just copy all files and folders from your current card to the new one.
    Any brand-name-card will do.
The size is for you to decide - I need a 16GB SDHC because off all my off road maps and videos

Downunder35m noticed in your sig your runing Navcore 9.000.1637 does this offer any improvements? I have the one from your full backup which is 8.413 i think.

It's just another updgrade with a new menu structure and new status bar.
The real power of it can only be used if we can get a proper truck map for it.
Right now I'm testing the 9.004 and it seems to be more stable with less problems.
So if you want to try it use the 9.004 and make a proper backup first!

First off, I'd like to say to Downunder a HUGE grats for his time with me and others with his help.
He might not remember me, but that's ok [DU - PM me to talk again... :0]

Downunder: After your help with my XL, i stupidly allowed TT Home to 'update' my unit.
It took away your 8.35xxx and made it back to 7.20xxx - DOH!!!

However, all is ok now. I'm back to where i was - after 2-3 hours!!!!

But my question is this, and this is what took me ages to work out - without calling on your help again.

Why does my TT One XL have folders called MAPS and POI - and yet after MUCHO playing around - do i have to put all POI's and the actual map of Aus - into the folder AUSTRALIA?
I spent ages putting all the POI stuff into the folder POI - As one would expect!
I put (extracted), the new archived MAP (8.35xxx), into the folder MAPS.
I then ran the new Keygen 3.1G and it didn't work.....

So why does all these 'fixes' have to be dumped into the one AUSTRALIA folder, and is it therefore ok for me to delete al lthe data in MAPS and POI?

    Thanks once again Downunder....

Hmm funny - I don't have the folders POI and maps on my device ...

But anyway ,to make it simple :
There ppl that use more than just one map (on the big 940 for example you will find almost any available map if you buy it in the right shop).
The POI files go into the map folder that is the Tomtom want's it.
And it is smart too - the POI's for Australia are useless in New Zealand or Europe ,but if all POI's would be in the same folder it would take you ages to find the right ones if you have to replace them...
The POI folder on your device contains only information about the recently used POI's (at least that is the standard) so that they can be shared using Tomtom Home.

    For the map :
The name of the folder is not important at all ,but all files for a map have to be inside a folder in the root of your device - it won't work with the map files in a sub-folder somewhere. Again that is the way of the Tomtom
You could name your Australi map "map1" and your NZ map "MAP2" - would make no difference for the Tomtom - as long as they are activated correctly!

As I don't have a map folder on my device and never heard of it ,you should check what's in there before deleting it

Thanks DU, The POI's and the Cameras, seem to be duplicated, or named very similar.

    IE:
    1) Red Light Camera
    2) Red Light Cameras
    3 Speed Camera
    4 Traffic Camera

Are these the same thing. The icons are also different - how does one know which POI/Red Light Cam is correct?

BTW, a new speed camera (as in speed detection - no red light stuff), has been installed around where i live (all painted the same colour as the kerbs - damn hard to see it).

How do i add it into - or i guess - add it to my ONE XL and allow you and others to know about it?

My parents in the UK, tell me that they have to have them painted in Yellow and Black stripes - and in fact some counties are removing them, due to the legal hassle [aka $COST$ to police, maintain, legal defense, etc] they create.

    Cheers.

I added the different cameras because Tomtom is not covering all
You should have a report button for new cams - but you ned a subscription to upload the new cams...

    Quick question..

After I got my Tomtom One working fine I decided to use the config files as I didnt like the new menu and startup & shutdown sounds..

So add the config.txt and canged it to ORI etc and turned off blutooth etc that I dont have, and it worked great, normal menus and no pain in the butt sounds.. but then the unit will not detect any sats at all.. none.

So deleted the config.txt and it works again perfectly, just with the horrid menu and really annoying startup & shutdown sounds that are way too loud

Any ideas what option I had wrong ?

    Cheers.

Well ,depends ,Tomtom is always upgrading the Database (at laest that's what they say).
I left them in because here in the Melbourne area I found several red light cams and a few on the freeway which are not covered by Tomtom.
A few are in there where there is no longer a cam - but I thought better safe than sorry
Would be nice to get another complete updated from OZPOI or so...

Default Tom Tom Rider 2 Oz maps help needed

    Hello folks
Thanks goodness i found this forum!

Ok, I bought a Tom Tom rider 2 back from the US 2 weeks ago and for the last couple of day been reading and trying out Downunder's tutorial.

I have tried 8.30 & 8.35 maps to no avail. From what I read it might be due to the version of NavCore of the rider. Am I correct in assuming that I need to get v8.15 maps?

You help will be much appreciated.

There is not much to update on the Rider ...
But you can use the 835.2420 map with no problems on your device.
You need Keygen 3.1G or the Easyusetools Frontend to patch your Navcore and to activate the maps.
And please remove your device ID from the posting

Thanks for the quick reply Downunder.

Manage to find a Keygen 3.1G but it also has the PRO tag with it. When I tried to patch the NavCore I get the following message "NavCore ttsystem Problem...You need a genuine non-patched file".

What do I need to do to get pass this error?

If you can't patch the Navcore but the downloaded map is working than you already have a patched Navcore.
If you can't use the [activated] new map you might have to try a different tool to patch your Navcore ,like Easy Activator ,Easyusetool Frontend or yDG patch.

All the info's and tools are easy to find - either way in this thread or by using the search function....
Depending on the installed RAM I suggest to use the 8.412 or 8.413 Navcore with bootloader 5.5112 or 5.5128 together with the map of your choice.
