How could you go wrong! Twin tuner PVR for less than $200. A Dreambox DM7025 is almost tripple the price!

all this talk of these Relook things has made me think perhaps it's a nice replacement for my DM500S next time I've got a spare few hundred lying around.

Is this a group buy price ? Is there one going around now?

    Thanks.

I just bought another 2 mutant 200s (that makes 3) to go with the 400S and DM600. I now have F*xt*l in 3 bedrooms, lounge room & rumpus room.

Not meaning to denigrate relook as I just bought a 400s with the groupie buy. All going OK so far.

These boxes have been around for a few years now and nobody really raved about them before, probably because images were flaky etc and did not allow emus etc (unlike dbox of which I have 500s and 600pvr which just works flawlessly).

Relook is not so well supported and I wonder if the price is so low (which it is) is because HD box's are the way of the future.

Any comments from anyone who has a relook for some time now who would like to share past experiences? Also are these boxes we are all buying chinese clones?

    thanks

I guess Relook has always taken a back seat to the Dreams but they do have quite a bit of support in Europe.
If you browse through all the available images at Denktenk , you'll see that there is a lot of choice. The thing you have to remember here is that most people here want it to watch their pay tv on (ie, Austar/Fox or Select) and to use it for that purpose it might not be that straight forward. But it will do anything a Dream can do.
These boxes are well made and reliable.
Not sure if the group buy boxes are clones or not as I didn't get any of them (I've already had my 200 and 400 for a few years now)

well my first impressions are very good. I managed to install the jade image with no issues, had to locate the "flash tools" utility but once that was done it was as straight forward as the dm500.

Added CCcam and put the F: line in the dm500 and the C: line in the 200s and pics straight away.

Set up a network mount to the dm7020 and I even think the recordings are better than the dm500 > dm7020

Now I will need to get another one or 2 to satisfy the kids in their rooms and I should be able to sit and actually watch something myself

Try the X-line skin porkop. It's one of the nicer looking ones I reckon.

I had grief with the remote of the 400s either not registering the press or doing it twice, popped it open and cleaned the contacts with isopropyl and its all good.

The ABcom enigma images are fine too, much a muchness as jade, just not so polished with the osd options.

    X-Line gets my vote too.

The consensus on the European forums seems to be that the hardware is superior to the Dreams. Certainly they don't seem to have the power supply issues that haunt a lot of the Dreams. Their greatest drawback is the Korean manufacturers who appear to be more interested in turning out different boxes than fixing the software. It's hard to keep up with the different models (mutant/cubecafe 200, cubecafe/relook 250, cubecafe/relook 300, cubecafe/relook 400, cubecafe prime, & the cuberevo HD series, mini, 200HD, 250HD, 2000HDPVR, 3000HDPVR, 7000HDPVR - as well as a few OEM models). AFAIK they have never had a sales partner in Australia. There have been a few distributors selling limited parts of the range, but no full distributor, so it's been difficult to get some of the range. BTW, the 400 has been discontinued by the factory & I can't find anything relating to it on their website. I've seen some talk that there may be clones, but I can't confirm this.

They aren't clones thats for sure. I think the supplier just wanted to make way for the HD stock so he let them go cheap. Realisticly the majority of Australian TV on Sat won't be HD for a long time (at least a couple of years in my opinion) and the boxes are more than double the price.

The reason for the slow uptake of Relooks in the past was most likely due to the fact that they were priced roughly the same as the Dreambox units which already had a great reputation.

Shameless Plug - I've still got 6 Mutants left and 15 Relooks. Let me know if you need any.

    Thanks, Daniel
