Hello all,
It's been a while since I have posted here.
Actually the last time I posted here was while we were all talking about rolling back the firmware on ABS-8776 decoders.
Anyhow since then, the Website has had the big crash, and I have had to recreate my username.
A few years ago, I managed to re program an old goldie with all the details to allow me to view most of A*rora. Then they started rolling the codes after that idiot started publicly card sharing a goldie that ended with the AFP busting him.
After that I managed to borrow another goldie, I copied the details of that goldie onto mine and I was able to watch everything again.
A few months after that my goldie had problems keeping up with the ever ending rolling of keys. It is able to decode in my old ABS 8776 for about 5 minutes then errors for about 30 seconds before it begins to decode again.
At the time I wasn't overly upset that I had lost A*rora as I had plenty of sat gear to receive TV from Optus D1 and D2.
But of recent I have missed Imparja and C7 as they are nolonger on D1.
So my quest has begun again.
I have recently acquired an old Optus card which looks like this
According to FMCard v4, it is an ACS1.2 card like my goldie.
This card hasn't seen a satellite signal for about 4 years, but after being left in my ABS8776 for an hour, it is working again.
It is only authorised to view ABC, SBS, NITV and Westlink.
But it doesn't suffer the timeout issues my goldie does.
I suppose my question is, do I modify this card, or do I make another goldie?
I have heard on this forum, that the problems I am suffering with my goldie might be due to the age of my goldie.
Now I have looked into reading my cards with FMcard and both are readable in my Phoenix/Smartmouse.
The issue I have with the instructions I have found on this site do not seem to relate to ACS 1.2 cards.
FMcard 4 doesn't seem to handle PNK extraction for 1.2 cards.
Farmsky's instructions also don't really talk about them either.
My thoughts are at the moment would be to mod the original card, but I fear I might break it if I experiment too much.
Has anyone any instructions on what I should do to mod the legitimate card with the details I have from the goldie?
I'm just having a hard time trying to find relevant information on modding such an old card. 10 years ago on the internet is a long time..
Thanks,
Jamie

Yes that card can be done quite easy just have to add chid's for the ones you want.
cardblaster or fmcard will help you there is a thread on do it at this site.
i added chid's to my card a year ago and still have all channels.
I wouldnt add the details of the goldie to the original card but you can add the chids as those above have suggested.
You could use the details from either your old goldie or the original card to make a new goldie.
If you realy want to try adding your goldie details to an original card I would suggest you find an old I1 pay card to experement on and have a read of the Cardblaster Cloning tute.
Don't worry, it only seems kinky the first time.
If for some reason you did not want to go the modify the Original card Option,
I would recommend a Silver, Emerald, or Funcard, to make a new card from your old Goldie,
(I think most people use a silver card now)
They have more memory & from reports last longer than a Gold card,
Good Luck

Thanks for your prompt advice, info, opinions, etc gentlemen, it has been much appreciated.
I've been very busy with this stuff for the last three days, oh well it's a good way to spend my holidays.
I used cardwizard 1.1.1.5 to extract HSN,PMK,HMK,EMM ID & ECMID.
That has been a learning experience. Looks like Cardwizard didn't like XP and my P4. I had to pull out an old 486 Win95 notebook to get that to work properly.
I have also made a Season interface that I have hard wired into my ABS-8776.
I have managed to get wallbanger 3.99 to emulate a card correctly.
I used ggedit to get the plain keys out of my goldie and merged that with the other data pulled from Cardwizard.
All signatures are reporting OK, which makes a pleasant change from my goldie's performance when I was logging with that.
Now I have a few more questions:
- If Aurora only uses Prov ID10, then why does my goldie have some info in Prov ID00? Is this possibly for the stuff on D2?
- I could just rewrite the data I have on my goldie with the info I have working in Wallbanger. I'm pretty sure it is not the goldie that is crook, but the data. I have two other friends with a copy of the same goldie, (one silver and one gold) and they are both doing the same thing.
But I would also like to mod the original I have, (just to learn a bit more)
Now that I think of it, I think I should hold out on modding the original card, reprogram the goldies and see if I can find some old austar card to play with.
Thanks for the heads up guys, it's been fun.
