Default How to reroute/extend Aerial Cable

Hi guys, hope this in the right section. I want to "extend" a coax aerial cable running down the outside of my house.
My wife wants me to put a wall mounted clothes line right down where the coax is running. There isn't enough slack to move the cable out of the way.
What's the best method of adding extra cable to move it out of the way with out having to re-run a new cable as it's a two storey house.
Is adding an extension lead with f-type connectors O.k. in an external application?

    Cheers.

    G'Day Cobber,
It would be better if you could add an extra section at either end, but there is no reason why you cant put it in the middle. Just means extra fittings.
To waterproof, make sure you use liberal amounts of ' self amalgamating tape '.

Yep..... use F male connectors and a female F joiner.

Ensure you waterproof the join with self-amalgamating tape, as standard electrical tape will not seal out moisture.

Gotta be quick around here.... beer beat me to it

is there any possibilty of using some washers or thin spacers to just 'lift' the crossbar of the line off the wall enough to avoid compressing the coax?
If the coax is flush against the wall, having the clothes there wont worry it.

    I don't see why not.
If you find there is a problem, you can always revert to Plan A.......

Never really thought of that. It is always the most simple ideas are often the best. I'll just have to try and find some "spacers" that are wide enough to not compress the cable.
I'll give it a shot first. Thanks.

You could use some square section steel tubing and just take a notch out for the cable to pass through.

That would be much stronger than some washers/spacers.

The reason this is so simple is because I have 2 outstanding features, being simple and lazy.
I helped install one of those foldable wall type lines and it only attached at each end where it pivits so I thought a coax thick spacer between the bracket and the wall might work.
Just make sure the screws/bolts are long enough to ensure a good grip into the wall. Wet clothes weigh a tonne.
Before it sounds like I threw away my lazy title (heaven forbid), my 'Help' was limited to handing up the tools used and making sure the step ladder remained in place.
