hidden cameras are generally a no-no. In a change room i would say even more so.
Get some legal advice before you do anything, other wise you could be up for damages from the other person/s
common sense will guide you.
As long as the camera is not going to record anything you shouldn't u will be fine.
You can always twist the rules a little.
I have run this past management they are fine with this. The camera will only be inside the locker and we only want evidence of the person breaking in such as footage of his face ,that is it that is why I want to be able to have it come on when he opens the door and the camera is recording out of the locker towards him.
Thanks Pete
Shouldn't be a problem as long as it is sign posted that electronic surveillance equipment in use (put it on another locker door or a wall near by). And like the others have said as long as you use common sense and not record anything that could be illegal you should be fine. There are plenty of low light SD cameras available in the market that work off motion detection. So when the door is opened it will commence recording and turn off when motion has stopped.
dont get upset at me i''m not the one ripping people off. Did u nik a standards book off a former employer that says rules are not open to interpretaion?
big difference between ethics and rules.

Handy tip: Don’t do what the toe cutters in Victoria police did and film female officers getting changed and give copies to your mates.
How do you know which locker to target ?
Way too many problems with cameras in locker rooms even when set up in a restrictive and targeted capture mode legally. Add unions or narked employees into the equasion and you will get one hell of a headache and a wish that you never got involved in the first place. Everyone and anyone that uses the area must be informed plus signs will also be needed so it ends up being a total waste of time and money for a zero result.
Better locker security is cheaper and easier than going down the camera path the legal way. Consider putting lockers into a public space outside of the change rooms and carefully setting up cameras as not to invade the privacy of the locker owners by showing any of the private contents in the lockers.
A couple of angry venonous snakes inside the locker might be a quicker fix
put a container of marker dye or similar "beetroot"? set up so it accidentally falls out of the locker and splashes nicely "oops accident didn't put the lid on properly" when it hits the floor should stain boots & trousers.
I think forget the camera and concentrate on the dye bomb idea. You will not need a photo to know who the scumbag is. We had a similar situation a couple of years ago with someone pinching drinks out of the fridge in the lunch room. So we filled a 2 ltr bottle with 60% lemon cordial and 40% urine. The drink got taken so then we let it be known what we had done, never caught the deadhead but no more drinks were taken.
the poowich and the craproll also work well for food thieves...
1: It is actually against the law to have any form of camera within a change room - locker room.
2: to be able to install one you must apply for a covert camera installation through the courts explaing why when and how long it will be in operation.
3: you will also need to inform all person entering the building that there is a covert camera in operation.
4: the footage from the camera is only allowed to be viewed by the person allocated within the court application and also the person found doing the wrong thing with their representation.
5: to install a camera and use it against some one without following the relevant state legislation will put yourself and anyone knowingly participating not only in a position of criminal charges but also civil charges

11 Additional requirements for camera surveillance
Camera surveillance of an employee must not be carried out unless:
(a) cameras used for the surveillance (or camera casings or other equipment that would generally indicate the presence of a camera) are clearly visible in the place where the surveillance is taking place, and
(b) signs notifying people that they may be under surveillance in that place are clearly visible at each entrance to that place.
Just go the booby trapped locker. Flouro orange spray paint at face level should do the trick.
There will be no mistake (then you can kick the shit out of them).
What happens if I press alt + F4?
