Online gaming is awesome.

besty, try system shock, now if you do a search you'll find HEAPS of rendering upgrades for the characters, this game gets VERY spooky

@pdarkness, if you like being spooked this is the game for you, truly hair rasing

rpg type- diablo 2, morrowind & oblivion

shooter type- stalker &+clear sky, halflife series. old ones blood and doom2

rts- total anihalation, warhammer 40k series dawn of war etc

card (hero/trump type games)- heroes of might and magic series, warlord series

sim &+war - sim city series, railroad tycoon series, settlers series (2 best), civilization series (3 best), medieval war series

hex/tile war games- battle isle series

counter strike: source - great online fun, crap if you aren't any good because you die in 2 seconds.
farcry 1 awesome graphics for its time, still looks great now - farcry 2 is crap
crysis
starcraft and brood wars- oldy but great multiplayer
world of warcraft - was good when i played it, very very time consuming, has changed a fair bit with the expansion packs though and havent played for a couple years

Nexiuz is a great FREE multiplayer FPS which works on linux or windows. It has bots, so you can play alone if you must. It has good graphics and great game play - it feels 'fast' like the old quake shooters. It's based on a quake engine.
