What is The Best Ever Game for PC

The only couple of games i play is Solitaire and then Scooby Doo for the young one

So you might see i am a bit of a virgin when it comes to the PC Games scene

Just want to know your choice of Best Ever Game
Like I have a mate and he swears by Quake4

I just want to download a couple and see if they are my / family's cup of tea

Best games ever made imo are

RPG - Diablo
RTS - Starcraft
FPS - Quake

They are all a bit old now but they were really good when they came out.

Agree with the first two forsure. But I would probably play Diablo II over Diablo, BTW, if you do play this get an old crappy mouse because this game is a mouse killer.

FPS I would probably add Call of Duty 4 in this lot, because of the way the game varies the action. Then again I tend to find FPS become very repetitive.

Driving game--Burnout Paradise (recent game very fun) or Trackmania
Desktop Game-- Plants vs Zombies

yes Diablo 2 was such a good game, would recommend downloading that over Diablo 1 as well. Diablo series in general is just awesome.

Burnout Paradise is something i havent played as yet - might give it a go.

I am also quite a PC game virgin after getting a new computer 2 months ago. Since then I have got quite a bunch of top grade (in my eyes) games, mostly newish. My fav so far has to be Mass Effect, it's such a friggin huge game, love travelling around to different planets doing awesome missions.

Bioshock is quite amazing too, very twisted story and similarly twisted world. Condemned and F.E.A.R are great too, I love games that genuinely unstettle me and freak me out, as opposed to just cheap scares.

Half-Life (original) - no other game has ever come close to beating it.

Warcraft 3 /TFT (the frozen throne) - excellent classic micro management or hero focused strategy game. So many different user 'maps' which completely change the style of game. DOTA and Castle Fight are two of the best user maps.

Unreal tournament (GOTY & 2004) are great for small lans - fast paced shooter. Much like quake.
