    Default promises promises promises

well promises were made to be broken, weren't they.

from the sound of this, it looks like its going in the to hard basket.

maybe we should attack teenage binge drinking.

Rudd's school computer promise comes unplugged.

THE Rudd Government has backed away from an election pledge to provide every upper secondary school student with their own computer.

Who gives a damn who funds public schools and parents who expect everything for nothing?

Not me...laptops in schools are, and always will be a joke.

Expensive, brittle toys for adolescents who have no idea about how to look after fragile equipment.

Give them a free memory stick instead and let the parents fork out for a pc at home.

Everyone should give a damn. This was a major policy announcement to get elected by Krudd and Gillard. They promptly get elected and dump the promise , probably at the expense of Aboriginal funding which is going to blow the budget to bits.

" Every Aboriginal child will go to kindergarten and every Aboriginal person will have first class health care within 5 years "

I see Krudd has also decided to sack 2000 Centrelink employees - unbelievable for a department that should employ more people not sack them.

Good to see him giving some thanks to the Unions that elected him They might think twice next time.

As far as I know there wasnt any promise to supply laptops :

A 15-page policy document labelled A Digital Education Revolution said: "A Rudd Labor Government will revolutionise classroom education by putting a computer on the desk of every upper secondary student
They were also supposed to allow remote access to students as well so they could access their school PC from their home PC.

If John Howard had done this the sky would be falling in all the left wing media, the education unions would be marching the streets.

The interesting thing will be what happens after their first few months. We are at the start of a 3 year term and still in the honeymoon period.

So far we have signed Kyoto and said Sorry both will cost a lot of money. The present focus of parliament seems to be to denigrate the previous government for anything that goes wrong which strangely the state government in Victoria is still doing after eight years.

What did Peter Garret say something like “When we get in it will all change”

Your starting to sound like Pollywaffle Diggler

Its amazing how we have an outright lie by Krudd , but its seemingly ok ? If a Liberal Government attempted what Labor have just done , we would never hear the end of it.

It was a major promise during the election and goes to show that yet again Australians have been stooged. I personally wish they put the Prime Ministers wage up so we dont have to deal with morons and liars of this calibre. Pay peanuts , get monkeys I suppose.

I am yet to see any credible reason as to what this statement has to do with the topic , but now that you bring it up it entirely your choice to live in denial.

Krudd did say there wont be any compensation claims from his apology , so it must be true. You wouldnt see him lie would you

You can't throw that one back at them, everyone knew that BEFORE the election & he got voted in. At least he was telling the truth.

11 years of liberal lies were ok then? non core promises were ok?

i haven't seen a compensation claim resulting from the federal apology but i'm sure you must know of one . i'd be keen to read it if one could be proven to exist.

Pretty much....it doesnt mix with 150 mg Oxycontin a day ( similar to Morphine ). I am shitfaced on one can of beer and vomiting on two. If there was ever one thing I said I would never give up , it was drinking. Now I dont even have a desire to drink.....no interest at all.

Before someone mentions that it makes drinking affordable , the hangover off one can is enough to keep me in bed for half a day.

And thats from someone that used to down a bottle of scotch or 18 cans in a sitting . My liver has lost its quiver

I am more than aware what Oxycontin is. A druggo ? I am under pain management through recognized and legal channels for chronic pain in relation to damage I have suffered to my back and for Osteoartritis that has formed from the original spinal injury that put me off work for 2 years in my 20's. Unfortunately Panadol just doesnt fix problems like that.

Anything else you need to know ? Do I buy drugs from drug dealers ? No. Do I smoke dope ? No. Do I smoke cigarettes ? No. Do I drink Alcohol ? No. Do I enjoy taking Oxycontin ? No. Do I have to take it ? Yes. What happens if you dont take it ? I cant get out of bed.

People who haven't experienced chronic severe pain are not qualified to comment on the subject.

I too, survive from day-to-day on a similar dosage of Oxycontin (and more at times) and have a similar story to Sanity - no booze. The Oxycontin lifestyle is not fun, but I can understand why fit people would "get off on it". I hate it because it makes me slow in thought and action, as well as some other nasty side effects. As in Sanity's case this drug is not readily prescribed by a Doctor - each prescription has to be approved by phone to some mob (in Can'tberra I guess).

I would love to have a session on the turps but cannot as I too am arse-over-head on one tin of beer.

I have just had a change in the drugs used for neuropathic pain, this new one has less side-effects than the older drug but is $86/month and not covered by the PBS so comes out of the (pathetic, insufficient and insulting) pension.

Life grates along.......I get a few "good" hours a day, most of it is shitty.

    Just one question.

Is there a solution to your condition apart from pain management?
Is surgery an option...or other option?
