Be aware that LG keep most tv repair businesses in business, its amazing the thing is still running with LGs reputation being what it is
I have my eyes on a 68cm LG rt 29fd15r CRT (flat) at cashies for $200, only really want it because it has component+svideo+3 composites (I'm stuck with a curved magnavox 68cm that only allows a single svideo or 2 composites, not both) - is component (for SD signals) and a flat tube worth it? I really do not like any of the current LCDs, plasmas etc as the source I watch most of the time (mystar/austar box) output is too rubbish for it, I don't use HD stuff much (xbox etc), and from what I have been told, all the HD FTA stuff is either rubbish or upscaled. I know I'm not going to see a huge improvement but the input possibilities are attractive, and I wouldn't get the horrible clipping of the sides of the picture like I do with a curved tube. If it's not worth it, and anyone has experience with cashies, how much should I offer them?

I can't belive people still buy LG.
You would think that they would have learnt something from the previous decade of their rubbish products

i have had LG tvs for years a 52cm crt, a 68cm crt , a 72cm crt and now a 127cm hd plasma.
ive never had one of my tvs serviced little tho repaired they are all actually still going over at my kids places.
lgs are not that bad at all, there maybe some dud units but the same can be said for sony, panasonic etc etc
to each his own i say so tigertoddy if you like the tv grab it.
do make sure its full stereo tho, that helps.

The Early Bird May Get The Worm But Its The Second Mouse That Gets The Cheese!
Crikey NoService - I fixed many LG TVs which did not last the warranty period, others which blew up as shop stock display/demo units !
Every brand has its problems, some are worse than others.
i must just be lucky then , 4 lgs and no failures.
just because a tv packs it in while being used as a demo dont mean the entire batch of tvs it came from will suffer the same fate, if it did no manufacturer would be in business.
as you said every brand has flaws but not every tv set in the range does.

Lucky if it Goes
I think LG aren't too bad, some models are dud.. I agree, best you save your $$$ for Plasma.
PS..Cash Conv.= Crime Converter..
The reason I want to go CRT over plasma is that they "mask" the rubbish quality of my SD sources better - I've seen plasmas that will hide how average SD sources are a little better than LCD, but it's never been a match for CRT's IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this would be because a SD CRT's maximum resolution is only 720x576, and plasmas/lcds have "too many" pixels to do SD any justice?
Indeed, they seem to have a 300% markup on anything they sell...PS..Cash Conv.= Crime Converter..
