    Default SCSI RAID Drivers

    Hi all

I've been trying to load XP on an ASUS P5KPLVM motherboard, the installation gets to a certain point then it crashes with the blue screen of death, and no, its not a ram issue as I'm currently using an IDE h/d.

I'm pretty sure I've narrowed down the problem to the SCSI RAID drivers via which these are loaded at the start of the installation via the F6 option.

I've checked the ASUS website, but this was down at the time of writing, but am having a lot of trouble locating these drivers, in anyone has these drivers please post or post a link, it would be really appreciated.

    cheers

Not sure what a ram issue has to do with an IDE hdd. Also as above, why are you loading scsi raid drivers if you're using IDE..

    ok another update

Was using an asus p5kpl-vm m/b, for the life of me I could get XP install on either an IDE or SATA h/d!!! BSOD kept appearing just after theinstallation was started.

So, I have an old gigabyte m/b (probably 5 yrs old) which I used to install XP without one single issue on the IDE h/d, I then put that h/d back onto to the asus m/b which worked, Then I tried a sata h/d and installing xp and again BSOD would appear.
So tonight I bit the bullet and bought a new m/b a gigabyte and statred off trying to load xp onto a sata h/d and guess what BSOD again appeared, So i pulled out another IDE h/d and loaded XP without any issues, I honestly don't know what has happened.

I bet the settings in the BIOS for the hard drive controller was incompatible. It was probably set to RAID or AHCI when it should have been IDE (ATA).

fortunately/unfortunately (depending how ya look at it) the settings were set to IDE ATA.......but it I was still getting the BSOD no matter which setting I tried.
