    Default Problem with White Gold

I have recently found a white card that I am not sure exactly what it is.

Looks like a Gold 16f84 as I can read a PIC and EEprom via my Elvis but can not program the Eeprom - I get an error when tring to write to it.

It used to read in the STB as an accepted card , but now comes up as invalid card?

The ATR comes and goes as well on different days.

Will try again tonight or tomorrow but I thought I would ask here if Gold cards sometimes arrive in white colour?

(No doubt a trap for anyone still hunting the now unwanted, previously popular famous whitey)

    G'Day Cobber,
As sure as hell, if you've been able to read the PIC and EEprom, It's a gold.
Try putting a layer of tape to thicken the card on the opposite side to the contacts.
    Worth a try,
Kindest Regards, " The druid "...........

A Cas 3, & Cas Studio 8.6c will identify the type of card & Pic & eeprom when it is entered in the reader,

If your pretty sure its not a Gamma or Sellers,

Maybe just erase the card & try to program it from scratch as a Gold card or as a Silver Card, (because they can be White too)

    Good luck

Edit: I have also herd that the White wafer cards are thinner than the old Goldie's & have trouble making contact in some STB's

Just to let you know the White Wafers do work Ok,

I have a White (Gold Card) & a White (Silver Card) that I use constantly for watching TV & testing,

I have erased the cards & loaded them many times, using different methods , & so far they are still working perfectly,

    I use a Humax 5400 & an IRD1 cam in a Strong 4658X STB

    Thanks for the feedback

Had another go at this - It looks like it will work fine as a 16f84A / 24C08 ?

If it was a 16f84 / 24C16 there obviously is a problem with it's memory.

Unless it could be used as a 16f84A / 24C08 it is really no good.
