    Default Motor capacitor question.

I have a high pressure pump that wouldn't start.

Under warranty still, so contacted the manufacturer and they sent a replacement capacitor.

    The original is a 16 uF/420v Class B

    The replace is a 32uF/470v Class B

The motor runs great for 10 minutes then stops and is as hot as hell.

I reckon the cap value is critical, and they stuffed up, anyone agree?

It is a single phase motor and has only one cap.

I think it is a run capacitor, not a start capacitor, but don't want to void my
    warranty doing too much exploration.

It's an Ebara cdm 70/07 feed pump for a desalination unit.

    Any opinions guys?

    The cap value is critical.
Assuming it is a capacitor start and run motor, the secondary coil is getting twice as much energy so it is understandable that it is getting hot.
A thermal overload switch is probably preventing it from burning out but you shouldn't push your luck. Replace the capa with the correct value ASAP.

Tell em to send you another one and series em up.
Problem solved if you can fit both in situ
    Cheers

you need the correct size cap or as close to as possible
you have changed the lead/lag of the windings causing it to labour and draw more current
it must have internal overload protection and stopping this will fail after awhile
i wouldnt run it to much till the cap is replaced
