iGO AMIGO system resource shortage

Hi gang,

I'm trying to get AMIGO to run successfully on a 5" Chinese cheapie off eBay.. the one with the orange frame. It's running WinCE5.0 with 64MB ram at 480x272; Amigo runs from 2GB SD.

Using:
Nav N Go iGO Amigo 8.4.2.85182
Maps Aus 2008.Q4 NAVTEQ [090612]
Included poi, dem, etc. with above map
Custom speedcam.txt VIC only
TTS working well_custom US voices
no Cars

frequently getting the error:
"System resource shortage. Please close some running applications"
clicking 'cancel' and the unit continues to work (until the error again presents itself) or 'close' and unit crashes to CE desktop.

I've tried DJ AMIGO, DIMKA skins.. skins only seem to make the error more frequent. Hacked my speedcam file to only VIC cameras to lighten load, have tried quite a few system.ini edits to no avail.

Have tried:

cache="2048"
skip_eula="1"
enable_roadshadow="1"

and

reserve_memory="1835008"
cache="262144"
skip_eula="1"
enable_roadshadow="1"

and various attempts at max memory, cache/reserve sizes.

Any recommendations on correct debug config for a 64MB unit? Any further recommendations on 3D settings (for better performance/less resource usage) or? Was thinking about hacking .pois down custom to only what i need.

Can post full system.ini if helps.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Alright, I've made some progress with this.. seems the shortage is from TTS usage. No TTS and unit appears stable.

I'll play some more and if I find a working fix, I'll post it here.

64MB isnt enough to run it at TTS
64MB also struggles sometimes without TTS

I have the same device and seems same problem. I've made clean install of Amigo, no TTS, no extras and often I got that message when track is computed. It is very annoying because if I press cancel, everything goes well. Just that stupid popup. What did you do to get rid of this problem ??

And another thing that makes me crazy When I minimize the application with "P" button, I can't run video player, ebook etc, instead stupid message something like: "navigation is running. Close the navigation first" appears. But for example mp3 player works fine. Do you have the same problem ??

Why persevere with Amigo? It is well known that it is a resource hog and is marginal with only 64K. Just use igo8.3 which will work fine with TTS. If you like the Amigo look there is a skin you can use which imitates it fairly well. Search for iGO8.3_Micsan_amigo_v16_EUR_All.zip. As the skin is French there are a few words that are untranslated, but it works well.
