    Default schematic diagram for ESR meter

    hi
    looking to construct a digital ESR meter...looking for a good circuit diagram.did a ferw search on the net but ,most circuit diagram have parts missing or not enough information provided.

    Does anyone have a good circuit diagram that can be constructed for a digital ESR meter.

    When i made mine i just used some good caps and some old dogey caps

    This will be the best tool you will ever make
    When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

    You could try measuring a know good capacitor with a resistor in series with it. Say 10 ohms or maybe less.

    Just buy the ESR MKII kit from altronics

    they are an awsoem meter and it doubles as a low OHMS meter. cost is about $90.

    Yes, absolutely the bees knees for working on on switch mode PSU's... TV's... and anything else for that matter.

    Built mine from the Altronics Kit many years ago as a novelty.

    use a prescision resistor.

    You will usualy find when the caps are faulty their ESR is very high compared to a good cap.
    Don't worry, it only seems kinky the first time.

    dead right azza, anything with protection circuitry that wont let the bugger even start, the other way is to disable the protection circuit, but dont do it in front of the customers, they dont like to see smoke for some reason....

    dont know why, it makes it much easier to fix.
