Thumbs down XP PRO OEM cd not validating ! Help !!

    Hi,
I recently purchased a sealed XP Pro OEM cd from Ebay, when I use the cd key on the sticker Microsoft will not validate the software and says that they key is different.

    Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the info, where do I go now as they are no longer a registered user of Ebay !!

Problem is that I bought 4 copies and they look genuine and sealed ?

Do I report to Ebay, Microsoft and police ?

I sent them an email and demanded my money back and also looked up white pages and have their phone number.

I will give them 48hrs to respond.

Any advice as to where to go from here !

    Gav.

Guys that is common for a second hand xp disk. Just ring up microsoft and check with them first before you go off saying its a fake. Microsoft will quickly tell you. If its not a fake they will easily activate it for you.

I agree, check with Microsoft first.

If they are fake (which they probably are) Microsoft will be interested to know more, then leave it up to them about legalities.

When you lodge a claim with PayPal, there is a choice of categories which you are making your claim under.

Select 'suspect item/seller is fraudulent' (or similar wording.)

Read his comments properly mate, he is saying he bought 4 copies new and sealed, where did you get second hand from?

Mate I advise you to ring Microsoft and talk to them, they will give you the choice to lodge a claim and answer all their questions and if you go ahead apparently they will replace them for you with genuine copies, Good luck

    Cool

    Thanks for all the advice,

They were sold as brand new sealed Xp Pro OEM disks.

If there fakes they are pretty good, hologram and shrink wrapped.

I will ring Microsoft tomorrow and see where I stand, all I want is my money back.

If Microsoft will replace them that would be great but I don't want it to be a long drawn out process.

Also I lodged a dispute with PayPal, see how I go there.

    Thanks again.

    Gav.

you can ring microsoft piracy at any time, ph no is 1800 639 963.

i rang about office, that i got installed about 6 yrs ago when i got an upgrade, it was a fake, they let me know in about 2 minutes, they gave me a claim number but i went and bought a new one.

dont worry about what time u ring them, as u will get a indian call centre,
i asked for someone who speaks english and they put me through to sydney.
