Lots of useful info. Austar works on NDS encryption. Don't bother with a DVB-S card with a CI. You need a pheonix card reader.
Hi
i have an austar subscription.
i have a working mythtv box.
how do i put the two together to stream/record satellite content using myth?
i can't seem to any advice on if it will work, and if it does which hardware to buy.
i would need a DVB-S PCI card with a cam slot. but apart from that i am lost.
thanks

You can't due to counter measures implemented by austar last year. Also austar don't use NDS but a 'non-compliant' version of Irdeto 2.

I stand corrected. Thanks for that. Either way, a CI won't work. You'd need to set it up the same way you would for Foxtel, using a pheonix card reader, NewCS and Acamd. I've been succesful using Windows 7 media center with those items. You also need a couple of other things to make it work, but it's worthwhile.
Have a ook at this. It'll explain it better than I can.
